Interesting stuff but not new. Arok had the Socceroos playing this in '85, albeit with a sweeper rather than 3 CBs (Yankos, Ratcliffe and O'Connor), and attacking FBs in Davidson and Jennings. And Oscar Crino as the deep midfielder.

The false 9 has evolved since those days, and Kossie and Mitch never really dropped deep for buildup play, but the system us hardly brand new.
