What was it I heard that the Sydney FC, CCM, and Newcastle youth teams were in the NSWPL this season, or was all that just a rumour?

Waste of money if this happens
These players are all state league players for there various state league teams
Wants the point Sydney fc Mariners Jets arent exactly running on a profit These clubs should recruit there own players rather than rather STEAL our state league clubs better players
As far as im concerned our youth under 20 and below used to be very competitive know they are complete shit
These A league teams should play there youth teams just before the first graders as far as im concerned the A league is nothing more than the plastic league
Hope SYDNEY Lose this weekend Go the Mariners

Exactly, all the youth players from the 3 franchises are players from the various state league clubs anyway, so whats the point?
NSWPL kicks off on the last weekend of March
2011 was an experimentation year for Olympic with basically a new team and coaching staff, hopefully in season 2012 we'll be better and they'll improve from what they did in 2011
Marconi has bought a lot of quality Syd United will be up there again Sutherland will challenge again Rockdale have bought well and could challenge Blacktown City will be up there Manly, honestly dont know Bonnyrigg will be competitve again APIA, not sure what to make of them yet Melita, Blacktown Spartans, Wolves will struggle

What does everyone else think about these A league teams having there own youth teams
Im against it
Im all for them if they hold open trials and recruit players from the Super League and below Dont like them stealing players from the other Premier League teams

The A-League teams already have their own youth teams, i think you mean having them play in the NSWPL, cant see a problem if they are the same squad that's been playing A-League youth...... it's actually better than what occurs now,at the moment many of the youth and fringe A-League players take positions in NSWPL teams until the A-League starts therefore reducing the number of positions in squads for up and coming youth players within the club ranks, so really if there are 3 more teams running around it's a good thing, the real issue here is that it will extend the NSWPL season by quite a few rounds and have the clubs the funding to pay players, coaches and staff for the extended period, the plus side is the semi pro players get a longer season which improves fitness, skills and experience......

Couldn't agree more Kolner. In Spain and Germany (two currently strongest footballing nations on earth), all the "B" teams play in the lower divisions. It works perfectly for development, the game in general and raises interest. I am sure crowds in the NSWPL would increase fourfold.

Has been a great season so far! agree. ive been to most sydney games this year and even though their last home game was a shocker on the field, off field it was a decent crowd, great atmosphere, ratings are up and the league overall is definitely on the up. im hoping that it continues into the back end of the season and then at seasons end we can start looking forward to another PL season.

I dont get some of the last few moronic comments
If people dont want to watch the a-league or follow an a-league franchise what are you going to do about it, put a gun to people's heads?
If they want to support their state league club, be it NSWPL/VPL or wherever else what business is it of anyones
People have the right to support or not support what or whoever they want

Fielding our youth teams with a few of our fringe players will be a good thing (off the top of my head for the Mariners - Musialik, MacDonald, Gallagher, Duke, Pasfield)
Would prefer an FFA Cup though

I agree with your concept, but disagree about the crowds increasing dramatically. What you'd end up getting for say Sydney FC, is possibly some of the more dedicated Cove supporters showing up, but you wouldn't be getting that much increase in gate revenue. In saying that, I personally would be quite happy to go to a fair few of the matches. Where I can I got to the odd APIA game. Quite enjoy the games at Lambert Park, despite all the matches I attended last season they lost, bar one v Macarthur in a Waratah Cup game.
