I need help in coaching a player to strike the ball at full sprint some where near the penalty box line and keep it under the cross bar when it has been passed back from the back line.
any one?

I think I know what you mean.

If passed back from a teammate in a more advanced position, than have the player who needs this specific development, (sounds like a rep coach suggesting it), sprint flat out starting 10 metres from the edge of the penalty box sprinting towards it.

Have another player lay the ball off from just to the side of the goal, fairly gently when he first starts in his direction, so he is facing the pass front on.

Then he needs to strike the ball with the instep, with his head over the ball. If the instep is difficult at first , use the side of the foot.

As he improves make the angle of the pass at more of an angle, say 45 degrees. Then even have the ball passed from side on.

Do this on both sides of the goal, and in front of the goal, from the edge of the penalty box.

If the ball keeps going over the bar it usually means a player is getting under the ball with their head up.

Use markers about a metre inside each goal as specific targets for the player as they improve.

If this suggestion has come from a rep coach (David Abela?) I'm amazed s/he hasn't suggested specific drills to improve this facet of the player's game.:-k

Krones, to have diagrammatic form to clarify what I've suggested go to Dirk's academy training sessions thread which is a sticky.

On the first Chelsea, not second, academy site, go to the second drill from the top of the page. It is a shooting drill.

Instead of the players dribbling from 10 metres from the edge of the penalty box, have your player sprint from the same position.

Have another player receive an underarm throw from the keeper, the player stationed just to the left or right of the goal.

This player then passes it back, softly at first, to the sprinting player, so the ball arrives approximately at the edge of the penalty box as the sprinting player arrives at the edge of the box.

The do the shooting as mentioned in the previous post.

As the sprinting player improves, move the player giving the lay offs near to the goal, outwards and towards the wing, so the lay off becomes more of a cross on the ground.

No it is mine
Watching a player observing his weaknesses and attempting to improve them.
Ps it is not as easy to do as it seems (i know i tried it ).

I think that peter de roo is a much better judge of player potential than other more conservative rep coaches like the ones you have mentioned. JMO
Some have great drills and are good coaches but still live in that conservative mode of not taking chances.
If for example a player has the ability to play between the lines why restrict him to playing amid the lines.
