Alessandro Del Piero could convince Francesco Totti to join him in Australia's A-League. There is talk within the Italian community in Australia that Del Piero is trying to convince Totti to join him in the A-League. Totti is in a similar position of having played all his professional career with one Italian Serie A club & at 36 years of age doesn't want to play to play against AS Roma.
Due to the salary cap rules in the A-League you might find it would probably be Melbourne Victory or Melbourne Heart whom would put in a big offer for him.

Not going to happen.

Del Piero played a season at least for another club before going to Juventus. 2. I'm sure he might want to retire at Roma (I know Real Madrid were probably interested in the past). You never know though... I'm sure he'd stay loyal to the Roma fans (even as a Laziano fan myself, I'd welcome him here).

There's really only one A=League team that quality Italian players with silky skills can play with and maximize their contribution..................Brisbane Roar.

It amuses me that people are so quick to say straight out that something like this won't happen. ADP coming here clearly shows anyone in world football is a candidate for the A-League. I cbf looking, but I'd like to see how many 'won't happen' comments were posted in Del Piero threads in the days before it happended.

Due to salary cap rules Heart and Victory would've no chance.

Quote:Russians want Roma legend Totti
Roma’s Francesco Totti has turned down an ‘offer’ from the Russian Football Federation to go and play in their championship.
In a chance meeting between the captain and Russian Federation Vice-President Nikita Simonyan, the latter invited the legend to Russia.
“I’m certain that you don’t have money issues, but you should know that we are ready to pay you a lot in order for you to come and play in our country,” Simonyan is quoted as saying by the Corriere dello Sport.
“If you phone me then I’ll be able to find you a club, who will sign you with their eyes shut, within the space of 24 hours…”
Totti, supposedly of interest to Spartak Moscow and CSKA Moscow, thanked the official but underlined that he would remain with his hometown club.
The Roman, who has only ever played for the Giallorossi, is now 36. He’s scored two goals in seven Serie A games this term.
Totti also gifted Simonyan a signed Roma shirt at the end of their little chat. http://football-italia.net/26422/russians-want-roma-legend-tottiStart of the year it was he was going to the US, then he was coming to the A-League, now Russia. People dont want to look at the facts, he is still an integral part of the Roma squad, they struggle without him, he practically starts every game, this was not the same for ADP who was often on the bench. He is 36, by the start of the next A-League season he will be 37, do you really want to spend millions on a 37 year old that could have injury problems as he has been having a few niggles of late. The A-League needs to be smart with its money, ADP is a great signing, Totti is still a world class player, but I cant see him being a 'success' if he came to Australia, especially as its a very physical league and by the time he comes here his body might not be able to hold up.

Think you may have contradicted yourself there. Still havn't seen anything other then hearsay on this rumour.
