Melbourne has the worst women in the country to pick up also, they look good but won't put out. For you.

The lad Dragicevic, haven't seen him play in a while but was always considered talented so I'm assuming his a good trainer thats why he keeps getting selected. His just not performing to his potential on match day.
Queenslanders officially transferred to Melbourne Clubs
Hume City Dakota Lucas (Sunshine Coast Fire - Queensland) Deejay Firth (Sunshine Coast Fire - Queensland)
Northcote City Michael Eager (Redlands United – Queensland)
South Melbourne Rhys Meredith (Redlands United - Queensland) Tyson Holmes (Sunshine Coast Fire - Queensland)
Had a very short (6 month) stint overseas, in Serbia I think. As far as I'm aware he came back because they weren't paying him enough.

Player Point System as an example?
Nice to see that the VPL is considered so highly in playing terms. Arthur, Clubs have been told that the points system is being implemented over time and will not apply i full for a couple of years. Have to agree with Benjamin that it is unlikely to see the light of day. In relation to the players mentioned, I can only offer my opinion: Tyson Holmes - I have watched him since he was an undersized midfield player at TIS (Talent Identification Scheme) State Championships when he was 15/16. He is now 25 and he is no longer undersized. Has a real presence on the pitch and can play football. In my opinion his downfall is that he prefers to try and play a virtuoso role all too often. If he can get a strong coach to enforce some structure to his game and have him realise there are other players in the team, then watch out for him. Dakota, the NZ lad i have only seen once and he was quite accomplished. Have heard that there were a few other clubs chasing him in Queensland before he left for Victoria. Rhys Meredith was part of a very talented Redlands Team in the BPL last year and was a consistent finisher, not only in and around the box but from distance as well. Very competitive player with good skills who can easily drop back into any of the attacking roles. You will probably find that he may find his feet first from these three players as he comes from a team that was head and shoulders above all else in Queensland last year and may be more familiar with a higher quality of play. I did watch most of the Palm Beach games at the Redlands Tournament on the weekend and if the players noted in the program were Dragicevic and Tomic they seemed solid players without showing anything exceptional. P.S. Deejay Firth does not ring a bell in my memory banks from last seasons QSL so can't offer anything on his pedigree. Edited by biped: 11/2/2013 10:00:29 PM

There are a few Victorians trialing for the fury. My first impressions Good on the ball and physically strong+ quick, the heat is messing with them (it is with all of us at the moment) if they stay till winter they will love it.

According to a link someone posted on the QLD APL thread, there's two Victorians coming over to Palmy. These are the names: DRAGICEVIC, Daniel (South Melbourne FC) TOMIC, Acim (Dandenong Thunder) I can't imagine they're first team lads but has anyone heard of them? I've no idea about state league football.

Not to be left behind, Oakleigh too brought down a QLDer keeper only to see him break his arm in a friendly last Friday.

ANd another Queenslander signs up. We must be relocating to the Gold Coast.:? :? :? :? Quote:Queenslander Meredith signs with South 15 January 2013 10:48 PM http://www.smfc.com.au/news/1254/queenslander-meredith-signs-with-south/South Melbourne FC is delighted to announce the signing of 24 year old striker Rhys Meredith for the 2013 Victorian Premier League season. Meredith joins the club from Brisbane Premier League club Redlands United, where he was regarded as one of the most dangerous and exciting attacking players in the league. The speedy attacker's 19 goal 2012 season caught the eye of A-League outfit Western Sydney Wanderers, with Tony Popovic asking Meredith to trial with the club along side former South player Jason Trifiro. Unfortunately despite some outstanding performances, Meredith was overlooked and returned home to Queensland. It was during this period however where he was able to tear apart reigning A-League Premiers Brisbane Roar for Redlands in a friendly game. In what was a man of the match performance, Meredith scored a hat trick in a narrow loss for Redlands. It is with the ability to score and lightning pace that Meredith was seen as an ideal fit for the South squad. We wish him well for the 2013 season and beyond.

Nice to see that the VPL is considered so highly in playing terms. The clubs up there may benefit from retaining players - but for the lads themselves it wouldn't be a hard decision. The standard of the state leagues is a big issue in Australia. NSW and VIC are far above the other states - which means that players are increasingly likely to head to these leagues. Player point system won't fly. PFA will knock it down. However, I have high hopes that with the coaching implications of the APL, plus more players coming from interstate, the standard of the VPL will continue to rise - which will be of massive benefit to Heart/Victory and any other sides scouting over here.

Deejay trialed with Western Sydney Wanderers, Tyson was with Perth Glory in pre-season and has previously been very close to signing at Fury and Gold Coast, Dakota is from New Zealand (was in their Olympic squad).
Queensland league isn't a high enough standard, also the lads can't earn much there. Coming down here they will probably be able to get 2 or 3 times as much, whilst playing at a higher level.

Some young Queenslanders are making the trek to the VPL and while its just a trickle is it a sign of things to come? Quote:FROM HE HUME WEBSITE (http://www.humecityfc.com/index.php?opt ... 1&Itemid=4)
HUME CITY'S 2013 NEW ARRIVALS
Dakota Lucas, right winger/striker, is a speedy and direct attacking player, at home on the right wing but at his best playing as an out and out goal-poacher. Having established himself in the New Zealand domestic league and the under-age national squads, Dakota moved to Sunshine Coast Fire in the Queensland Premier League in order to retain match fitness prior to the Olympics and proved highly effective in that league. He is keen to step up to a higher league as his career progresses.
Deejay Firth, central midfielder, has come to the club with huge potential after a very successful season in the Queensland Premier League. Deejay is 19 years old looking forward to challenging himself at a stronger competition in the VPL after a trial in the A-League during the off-season. Quote:http://www.smfc.com.au/news/1249/south-sign-exciting-queenslander/South sign exciting Queenslander Friday, 21 December 2012 7:51 AM South Melbourne FC is excited to announce that Tyson Holmes has signed with the club for the 2013 Victorian Premier League season. Whilst the name is unfamiliar in Victoria, the attacking midfielder has made his mark throughout Queensland, dominating the local scene over the past few years, whilst captaining the Sunshine Coast Fire. In his time with the Fire, Holmes has managed to lead the club to 3 Championships and 2 Premierships and ensuring that the club were one of the most dominant teams in the state. On a personal note, Holmes has managed to win the QSL Golden Boot Award in 2011, as well as being awarded as the QSL MVP on two occasions as the best player in the competition. South fans can expect to see Tyson provide that link between the middle third and our very potent attacking force, where his work ethic, pace and football smarts will hopefully allow him to excel in this role. We welcome Tyson to the club and wish him the very best for the 2013 season and beyond. Firstly are they any good? If so isn't the QSL challenging enough quality wise? Are they not being identified in QLD?
