Police have told people to turn off phones due to undetonated explosives. One officer is dead.

Explosions have been heard and possibly 2 suspects taken into custody.

"A cop tells reporter the two MIT/Watertown suspects are the two the FBI has been looking for in relation to Boston bombing"

Witness just said one of the suspects looks like one of the guys from the boston bombings images released by FBI.

So sounds like they've been chasing a guy who looks like the Bombing suspects, and is completely unrelated to the shooting that happened at MIT.

Police have apparently confirmed the two guys they've been chasing are the Bombers. They've got the guy with the black hat, white hat guy still at large.

Which will make no difference to people who really want weapons. Over the top background checks will just fuel the blackmarket which makes the existing above board system less effective.

There are so many floating around the US already that these proposed laws would have just drove things underground. The laws looked reasonable on first glance until u scratch the surface a little.
