Pretty new to Brissy myself, but most places in the valley are ok, nothing special but if chasing cheap drinks Birdy's is alright. In the city I prefer the Exchange to the Vic. Actually came into this thread to ask about good spots from someone who has been here a bit longer :lol:

The Glenmore in the rocks is fantastic. About 12-16 months ago they closed upstairs for renovations. I've been going there for years. It's basically my go-to pub in The Rocks. During the Rugby World Cup they had $4.50 Heinekens. Let's say I may have abused that once or twice and found getting down those stairs a challange that required me to go down each step on my arse. :lol:

Great pub, though. I think the next major FFT meetup should be held there.

Absolutely fiending 'the Glenmore' at the moment. The rooftop bar has a view over the harbour from the rocks (just under the bridge for you non-sydneysiders). It's surprisingly cheap, and has a really nice atmosphere. Great for a memorable date on a student budget.

This is now also Bowds & Bagz new favourite place.

It's the sort of place that is so awesome that you want to tell everyone about it, but also so awesome that you don't want to tell anyone in case it starts getting so busy that you have to book.

If you're ever in Santa Rita do Sapucaí, check out Bar das malas - Great fish, 2 dollars for a litre of beer and you dont have to worry about the petrol pumps blowing up when you have a smoke because they assure me that they turn them off before they put the chair and tables out. (yes thats right, its a petrol station cum outdoor bar at night!)

Uni holidays coming up... Sounds good, I usually work at Castle towers on a Wednesday so pizza sounds good :lol:

How much did the Ulster Fry-up cost you?

Place over here called Paddy Malone's is an irish pub/restaurant who have some cracking food. Bangers and Mash was fantastic. They also do a cracking Sunday roast but my favourite was the Ulster Fryup, its an all day brekky with all the trimmings including black pudding. So good, pricey, but good.

Me and you probably live quite close to each other...

The Baron is a frequent spot of mine, as is the hillside, and its still filled with underage slurries, if you know where to look... (bistro ;) )

Several of my friends work at the Baron, including one of the head chefs and a few of the waiters...

coming home from wollongong one time we decided to go the ocean road. that scarborough pub had a pretty decent feed and the most brilliant view. well worth checking out

From memory the Penny Black on Sydney Rd have similarly priced pizzas, although I was in a state that would have made cardboard delicious so I can't vouch for quality.

I'd also mention the Baron in Castle Hill, but it's so hipster that it's mainstream :lol:

In terms of 'obscure' places...Saigon Sally's off Chapel St.

I didn't realise that Cho Gao was classed as obscure.

My new favourite place is Sweetwater Inn tucked in behind the Jam Factory.

This is why I go to most of the bars I go to :lol: I haven't paid full price for a drink in I don't know how long.

To be honest, I've only ever run into three people there that I knew were underage. I know a huge number of people there, because the district itself is pretty tight knit, no-one moves away and with social media, these days everyone in our area knows everyone.

Not too bad either when you have friends who work at the bar :lol:

Yeah, I've got a few mates who live out west so I know a few of the bars out that way.

I can't say I'm a fan of going into a bar where I have to card a girl before I have to start hitting on her. I haven't been up there since they renovated.

Yeahhhh there can be quite a few under-agers in there. But my God, the average girl in there is about as good as it gets. Since the renovations last year the vibe has changed a bit which I like. It also happens to be the highest concentration of Daddy issues known to man, which I also love :lol:
