Rumours of Heskey leaving have been circling for a while now. Rumours have started popping up about Goodwin leaving too.
My (unbroadcastable) source has informed me that the Jets have lined up both Burns and Brosque as direct replacements, and are awaiting confirmation of Goodwin & Heskey leaving (Leeds want both of them).

This move would really doubly suck if true. It would suck if Heskey left, especially after signing a new contract. It would suck if Brosque joined Newcastle (or anyone else besides Sydney). :x =; :(

I'm not a Brosque fan, so good for Newy. Reckon you'll be fighting with Perth for the spoon :)

GvE is the front runner for first sacked coach. I don't really see the Jerks being front runners for last place tbh EDIT: in saying that, I'm not a huge Brosque fan either. I think he's lazy. I would absolutely hate to have Brosque at the Jets instead of Heskey. But I can see Goodwin leaving and Burns replacing him.

Would be disappointed seeing Heskey leave. Have no problem with Brosque and Burns coming back to the HAL.

Well let's hope your 'unbroadcastable' source is WRONG! I don't understand such rumours and really hope they wrong. Ok, Goodwin has been trialling overseeas for a couple years now and his departure was just a matter of when. But Heskey?! Heskey was scoring goals for fun and the team was bound for the finals/top 4 when he was in it. They only slid ONCE he was absent via season-ending injury. You could tell the difference he made to this young team, bringing those around him into it and the trouble he caused A-League defenders. UNLESS It is INDEED some fitness/early retirement related reasons - It would be really unfortunate for a KEY PLAYER like Heskey to be just upping stumps so early into Project Newcastle!

What don't people see in Brosque?!? Scores goals, good link-up play, and has a very well rounded game for a guy who can play in a lot of positions. He'd be a huge asset for whoever signed him.

If he did sign for us - until he was a huge success on-field, I'd only really consider signing him a good thing just to piss Sydney fans off and let them know how it feels for once.

Not sure why you'd think of him as a lazy player. I don't think I've seen a forward that has come close to his intensity and workload up front in the a-league. The amount of high intensity sprints that he achieved per game was amazing. The only thing against him in the a-league was his finishing ability. Nearly every year he'd have easily the most chances and shots in the league for a miserly return of goals.

Heskey often didn't look like a happy camper on the pitch towards the end of the season

Yes, his national team performances haven't been great - but he's still done better than the likes of Scott McDonald in a Gold Jersey.. I think my respect for Brosque reached a new high, a high I never thought could be reached the week after Dogga (rest in peace) died. Dogga was one of the founders of the Cove. spfc wrote:Heskey often didn't look like a happy camper on the pitch towards the end of the season Didn't Heskey miss the second half of the season? He was out injured since late December? That co-incided with the Jets' slide in form. Up till then he was scoring a goal almost every other week (Like 8-9 for the season?). He was an effective focal point for a young front half and team and it seemed to be working a treat - with Jets flying high hovering around 4th-5th above much more fancied teams (Like Roar, SFC and Glory) for about 2/3 of the season. Heskey also has his mate Michael Bridges up there and iirc it was infact Bridges who helped sway Heskey into the move over here?

He was subbed off at ht against Adelaide at the start of January and missed the next game vs Brisbane. It wasn't til the closing rounds where he was "rested" vs Victory, only to be injured in the next training session which caused him to miss 3-4 games.

Should be some Burnsy news within next couple of days. Back in Oz. Shame he was not in against Korea other night. Another former AEK team mate, Leonardo, is rumoured to be on the move out of Korea. He'd be a nice A-League pick up.
