I see there is no thread dedicated to the many knockout competitions around the country that will act as qualification to this year's FFA Cup. Would it not be an idea to keep it all on one thread so interested people like me can follow it a little easier? Good idea. The fixtures for the first two rounds of the Canale Cup have been announced. Round 1 has clubs from Capital 4, Capital 3 and some from Capital 2. The rest of Capital 2 as well as most Capital 1 sides will be introducted in Round 2. BPL sides come in at Round 4 and the six Brisbane-based NPL clubs in Round 5. Overall, 62 clubs will be reduced to the two who will enter the FFA Cup. Quote:Round 1 M1 - The Lakes (C4) v Park Ridge (C2) M2 - Virginia United (C3) 4 - 3 Brighton Bulldogs (C3) M3 - Samford Rangers (C2) v Acacia Ridge (C4) (forfeit) M4 - Narangba United (C3) 2 - 4 Slacks Creek (C2) M5 - AC Carina (C3) 3 - 0 Newmarket (C2) M6 - Logan Village (C4) 1 - 0 Tarragindi Tigers (C4) M7 - Redcliffe PCYC (C2) 5 - 0 Bardon Latrobe (C4) M8 - Toowong (C3) 14 - 0 Mooroondu (C4) M9 - Westside (C3) 0 - 4 Centenary Stormers (C3) M10- Kargaroo Point Rovers (C2) 2 - 1 Bethania Rams (C4) M11- Jimboomba United (C3) 2 - 1 New Farm United (C3) M12- Oxley United (C2) 5 - 2 Ridge Hills United (C3) M13- Greenbank (C4) 1 - 5 Logan City Kings (C3) M14- Clairvaux (C3) 2 - 5 Holland Park Hawks (C2)
I'll try and keep up with the results Edited by aussieshorter: 19/2/2014 09:23:14 AM

I'll do my best as well. Excluding the strange scenario playing out in Canberra the first 'qualification' fixture is between Samford Rangers and Acacia Ridge on Wednesday February 12th.
Saturday 15th February: 11 Canale Cup fixtures 7 NNSWF Cup fixtures 13 Coca Cola Fed Cup fixtures
Sunday 16th February 1 Canale Cup fixture 4 NNSWF Cup fixtures
Tuesday 18th February 1 Canale Cup fixture
Still no news on start times for the Waratah Cup, Dockerty Cup, Cool Ridge Cup and the Milan Lakoseljac Memorial Trophy. Outer Queensland Cup fixtures begin on the weekend 22nd/23rd February. Anyone with any info? POST HERE!

The Dockerty Cup is their state wide knockout competition and those teams that reach the Semi Finals will win a place into the FFA Cup. Even if their NPL league is a balls up they should still be able to provide 4 teams able to play!?! It's pleasing to see South Australia, Queensland and NNSW on the front foot.

I thought it mattered as to who and when they are to play. From the draw (which has been done, but will need to be edited for spelling and factual errors, such as Parkmore playing Parkmore in Round 2 :P) it says the byes will be allocated based on 2013 finishing, and refers to the VPL and the Mens State League 1 and 2. So it appears that the NPL scenario won't affect the Cup at all. http://www.footballfedvic.com.au/fileadmin/user_upload/Competitions/State_Knockout_Cups/2014_Dockerty_Cup_Memo.pdf

So looks like 200 Victorian clubs to compete for four spots in the FFA Cup. Good to see so many clubs involved.

Good to see the Dockerty Cup draw out! Waratah Cup will follow soon, but can anyone from Perth or Tasmania enlighten us about your cup competitions?
I'd expect the qualifiers from Sydney and Melbourne to be the teams most likely to upset the big boys.

Can't say I agree with that. It's a separate competition and should be treated that way. I think every club should have to qualify for the FFA Cup through the relevant state knockout competition.

What happens if the South Australian club wins the NPL Championship this year and gets automatic qualification. SA only gets one spot, so do all other SA clubs miss out that year? With regards to A-League clubs, they are more highly seeded than state league clubs, as it should be. If the NPL Championship winner gets automatic entry, they are being put in the same category as A-League clubs. As I said, that's all just my opinion and to be honest I don't really mind either way. I'm just excited for it to start. First ever FFA Cup Qualifiers start tomorrow in Brisbane's Canale Cup.

From what I've read, the breakdown is: - 9 A-League - 8 NSW - 2 NNSW - 4 Queensland - 4 Victoria - 2 Western Australia - 1 South Australia - 1 Tasmania - 1 ACT = 32 clubs. Not sure what you mean by the 10th team taking Wellington's spot. Unless that spot is already included in NSW's 8 places (meaning they only get 7 normally, with Sydney United picking up that 8th spot for this year?) 19-SU-58 wrote:Just want FNSW to get their act together and draw up the Waratah cup already. Agreed. It'd also be nice if the FFA actually made an official announcement and launched the FFA Cup, particularly as the qualifying games are starting.

Agreed. It'd also be nice if the FFA actually made an official announcement and launched the FFA Cup, particularly as the qualifying games are starting. that is correct so one NSW spot is already taken up by sydney united. but then again if SA won the NPL, no qualification spot would be available for SA...so you might be right... its still confusing me, as not everything is clear. I do know the NPL will change format again because the Victorian teams should be entering...
Not a Phase, Not a Trend, SYDNEY UNITED till the END!
