Victoria haven't got their league organised yet.

I'm not convinced that it should matter. The Dockerty Cup is their state wide knockout competition and those teams that reach the Semi Finals will win a place into the FFA Cup. Even if their NPL league is a balls up they should still be able to provide 4 teams able to play!?!

It's pleasing to see South Australia, Queensland and NNSW on the front foot.

I thought it mattered as to who and when they are to play.

So looks like 200 Victorian clubs to compete for four spots in the FFA Cup. Good to see so many clubs involved.

I see there is no thread dedicated to the many knockout competitions around the country that will act as qualification to this year's FFA Cup. Would it not be an idea to keep it all on one thread so interested people like me can follow it a little easier?

Can't say I agree with that. It's a separate competition and should be treated that way.

I think every club should have to qualify for the FFA Cup through the relevant state knockout competition.

so by your theroy, the HAL is a separate competition so they shouldnt get direct entry too? they should go to their respective state knockout competitions and compete to get qualification :roll:

NPL was a blueprint for the FFA and state league clubs, it's been mentioned a few times that the NPL championship winner will get automatic qualification, because as it stands they are the best state league side in the nation.

Are they still the best if the npl tournament only included 5 of 8 member Feds? Bit harsh on vic, nnsw and wa don't u think?

If that's the way it works out I have no problem with it. I'm just saying my preference would be that as a state league club, they have to qualify through the state league knockout competition. What happens if the South Australian club wins the NPL Championship this year and gets automatic qualification. SA only gets one spot, so do all other SA clubs miss out that year?

With regards to A-League clubs, they are more highly seeded than state league clubs, as it should be. If the NPL Championship winner gets automatic entry, they are being put in the same category as A-League clubs.

As I said, that's all just my opinion and to be honest I don't really mind either way. I'm just excited for it to start.

First ever FFA Cup Qualifiers start tomorrow in Brisbane's Canale Cup.

IF the SA team won the NPL, then season 2 of the FFA CUP, they will get automatic qualification, and SA will still have another qualification spot up for grabs. (the NPL winner is the "10th" team, as wellington will not part take)

Just want FNSW to get their act together and draw up the Waratah cup already.

From what I've read, the breakdown is:
- 9 A-League
- 8 NSW
- 2 NNSW
- 4 Queensland
- 4 Victoria
- 2 Western Australia
- 1 South Australia
- 1 Tasmania
- 1 ACT
= 32 clubs.

Not sure what you mean by the 10th team taking Wellington's spot. Unless that spot is already included in NSW's 8 places (meaning they only get 7 normally, with Sydney United picking up that 8th spot for this year?)




Agreed. It'd also be nice if the FFA actually made an official announcement and launched the FFA Cup, particularly as the qualifying games are starting.
