I am not too sure what to think about this.. All the IS stuff is becoming a little to close to home now if this is true http://www.news.com.au/national/australian-terror-raids-afp-asio-move-on-suspected-terrorists/story-fncynjr2-1227062204389HORRIFIC details have emerged of a plot to behead an Australian and upload it to social media in a deliberate attack against the country. While the claims remain unconfirmed, Channel Seven reports one the men charged in this morning’s raids in Sydney planned to kidnap a random Australian, execute them by beheading in a public place, possibly Martin Place in Sydney’s CBD, and film the act and post on social media. Further reports have emerged terrorists planned to drape the victim in an Islamic State flag. The man, charged for serious terrorism related offences, is due in a Sydney court later today. Court documents tendered by authorities are expected to detail the man’s plan in full. “Police believe this group had started planning to commit violent acts in Australia. Those acts related to random acts against public,” Australian Federal Police Acting Commissioner Andrew Colvin said.

I been trying to control myself on this topic, but as far as I'm concerned.
Tony Abbott is a twat.. no argument. But He is right to raise the Terror Alert threshold to 5, this has allowed our FED's to act on their information before its too late. I actually agree with PUP's JACQUI Lambie who wants ... “Anybody supporting or calling for sharia law in Australia can get out. Simple as that.” . I actually agree with Liberal Senator Cory Bernadi's call to Ban the Burka. I fully support the GC City Council on their rejection of plans to build a Mosque in Currumbin ( I live on the GC btw)
I personally find the idea or expectation to force ably expect the people of world to follow a certain way of life based on supposed 2000 year stories/ beliefs/ fairy tales, which if had been followed by everyone for the last 2000 years would see us still living without technology and Bacon, as abominable.
Personally, anything that threatens mine and my families freedom and quality of life should fought with the highest aggression factor.
I think the constitution should be amended now before its too late that affirms religion as a singular choice of people to follow but is not recognised on any political level in Australia ( or something along those lines) the idea is that currently local Councils can vote to accept Shaira Law in the local area, believe it or not the constitution as it stands does not stop this at local government level.
And for the record I am not racist, I am against religion, it has done nothing for this world but cause problems. /rant (for now)

My attention was drawn to that as well. Honestly, if it's unconfirmed, giving it attention in the press does absolutely nothing to improve the situation :?

Off topic but it reminds me of the Rajneeshee in Oregon. They tried to poison an entire town just before the council elections so they could get their own representatives elected  If you haven't heard about it I recommend reading about it, it's pretty interesting.

I tolerate religion because it has no real impact on my life, but these Sharia Law stories are increasing it seems. Easy to find stories about pockets of the UK where groups are advocating it.
The moment religious fairy tales start altering the law of the land is the time to put a stop to it.

How could Sharia Law operate in a local council? Local councils don't pass laws at any level really... For example, even if sharia law was passed in Lekemba, it would still be a federal crime to cut off a person's hand for stealing, would it not?
After a little bit of google searching, I can't find any indication that such a vote ever took place, but if you can find a link to an article, please post it.

Well I'd sooner our authorities be onto it regardless if unconfirmed........ I'd sooner we be active making it aware to these undesirables they will be caught or found out sooner or later.

If this turns out to be true, it looks like the existing intelligence laws are working to me, why do we need to give up more of our privacy? :-k

It's good that the authorities aren't waiting around for something to happen and are being proactive. They need to stamp out the extremism before it can take a firm hold.

-PB Was thinking this too. Heard a lot of talk on how the authorities don't have enough power and that they have to be waiting for a crime to be committed before they can charge people. Also was going on about how AFP wanted more power with putting restrictions on peoples movements. In all honesty , and this may seem odd , but I am more worried about the potential law enforcement changes that may come out of this then anything else.

What are they protesting about? Raiding suspected terrorists?
What that tells me is that the "moderate" Islamic community supports these kunts.

Yeah, I'm looking for it too, can find plenty on the effort to introduce it but can't find the vote thing, But it was on Channel 7 ](*,) , maybe it was speculation of a vote, but I recall the shot of the council chambers http://www.news.com.au/national/muslim-body-wants-moderate-sharia-law/story-e6frfkvr-1226057280606http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/breaking-news/broad-support-for-australian-sharia-law/story-e6frea73-1225838340625?nk=d21b9f14bfdb0f86c0b4dc308b0d4557
