I was trawling through Wikipedia looking for nations we could have played in a friendly over the weekend just gone (like most nations have just done) and I noticed on the South Korean page, that they appear to have a friendly booked against Qatar at Centerbet Stadium in Penrith on the 21st December. Anybody know if this is legit or not? I'd assume there'd be a few Asian Cup nations in country acclimatizing and all that, so I suppose it's entirely possible. On that note, anybody know if there's any other friendlies being played between Asian Cup competitors around the country?

Hopefully we get lots of these friendlies around the country as warm up matches...still this would be best suited in the Asian Cup thread.

Begs the question does anyone know how long before the actual tournament the Aussies will gather and go into camp? Maybe a warm up match

There are a few rumored and confirmed friendlies around the country prior to the Asian Cup. These are some of them from various reliable and unreliable sources. Obviously some are not legit because the dates clash. Those in Bold listed on FIFA.com, Italics from other trusted sources
South Korea vs Qatar 21/12/14 (seems very early) in Penrith Japan vs North Korea 26/12/14 in New Zealand UAE vs Jordan 30/12/14 in Melbourne Qatar vs Oman 31/12/14 venue unknown Australia vs Bahrain 2/1/14 in Melbourne Japan vs Bahrain 3/1/14 venue unknown China vs Oman 3/1/14 or 5/1/14 in Sydney Uzbekistan vs East Timor 4/1/14 venue unknown Kuwait vs UAE 4/1/14 venue unknown Jordan vs Bahrain 4/1/14 in Melbourne Iran vs Iraq 4/1/14 in Sydney Qatar vs Indonesia 5/1/14 venue unknown

Will definitely head down to some of the Melbourne friendlies if they're open to public. I wonder where they will be played? Maybe Lakeside.

On that note, anybody know if there's any other friendlies being played between Asian Cup competitors around the country? fifa.com has Qatar v Estonia in Qatar on December 27 so this seems very doubtful, which is a pity as I was quite looking forward to seeing some football in Penrith.

Why the shit aren't we having any pre-Asian Cup friendlies? Surely one game in the space of over two weeks preparation can't hurt too much? Would also work on a few combinations that are still seemingly struggling.
