One has to credit 442 with being the most successful football forum in Aussie football history.

16 000 plus members, with about 1000 regulars is a pretty decent achievement over the last eight years.=d>

The mod panel meet regularly and discuss issues to ensure a degree of consistency.

Kevin Airs has a greater forum presence than many admimistators/site managers of other forums.

What do others attribute the success of the 442 juggernaut to?

Well for starters, there is a huge variety of discussion, which most forums just don't have.
Also plenty of guys who post 20 times per day, which keeps the place ticking over.

I would just like to see more malcontents appreciate what they have on 442.


The alternative is to leave. They tell me Forum Anarchy is looking for new members. They've lost about 80% of their regulars over the last year.

Yeah, I find the malcontent very frustrating too, however, I personally I know a lot of the regulars here, and they're all pretty good guys. A difference of opinion is what this is all about really, so some people need to chill out and learn to enjoy adult discussion and debate.
As for the way it moderated, it's brilliantly done, and you won't find much better from volunteers.

I was signed early last year by KA as a marquee signing and I get paid per post because my posts are legendary.

I make about 6-7K per day on here so its worth it.

Yeah I was just checking the mail when I got a tranquilliser dart to the neck and woke up with with a mod tag.

That and my boxers were on back to front.

One of the reasons for the unmitigated success of 442 seems to be the current link to 442 articles. Others cut and paste football articles from around the web and there is constant fresh material to discuss.

Another strength is that there are quite a number of posters who have involvement in football as high level club administrators, players, coaches, refs, player agents, etc. This provides insight and knowledge to football issues raised.

Several things wrong with 442 forum, however-

Annoying adverts, often impeding your entry into the forum.

No facility for viewing your own posts.

Too many cut and paste posts from Joffa- these have the effect of continually driving normal posts from page 1.

I also forget to mention we have very knowledgeable football historians involved on 442 too.

I'm surprised you didn't pick me up on it?:lol:

The only thing this forum is lacking is more people including the goalkeeper when writing formations.

To push the point, I propose that we re-name the website '1-4-4-2'.

They nearly shut the place down when their awful new site came in.

This place needs to be promoted.
