Brisbane Roar have started early negotiations with Zac Anderson who is keen to return to his home state. Any deal is thought to be on relatively minimal wages and he will step in as 3rd or 4th string CB. Nothing will be signed until the Roar officially announce their new coach and their released players list by the end of this week.

Rumours circulating that Adelaide have signed a 24 year old CB. Could this 24 yo CB be Zac Anderson?

For the first time, but certainly not the last, I began to believe that Arsenals moods and fortunes somehow reflected my own. - Hornby

A few rounds into the season I said we'd be better off in moving North on, have Smith & Don as our starting CB and bring in someone like Anderson as a cheap third option to free up some cap space.

Instead Smith left was replaced by Devere on good dollars, the likes of Bowles & Jackson have stood up and are good back up options now.

Unless a few guys are moved on it would be very foolish bringing in another CB, wasting valuable Cap space.

I called him to Brisbane is pre-season. Was very chummy with all the Roar boys after their preseason game. Qld boy.

Happy to have him as 3/4 CB combo with Jackson. North needs to move on. Bowles is good enough and cheap enough to keep as a utility defender capable of playing across the back 4 with youth/Roos commitments and injuries ravaging us this year. Dunno if Donks will be around all year either (O/S offers).

North and Steff need to move on.

Polenz, Hingert, LDV, Donks, Jackson, Zanderson, Bowles, Brown, and 1 of Franjic/Georgie/Jamieson would be a great defensive base for next season. 9 defenders should be enough. 4 central, 4 fullbacks, 1 utility.

I hope this isn't true. Would prefer to see Jackson given a chance, and Anderson hasn't shown enough to prove he's worth a first choice place. Donks, Devere, North, Bowles and Jackson - what do we need with another CB?

And who is making these decisions? Surely the new coach should be given the choice to sign his own players, especially since we've apparently abolished the TD and FD positions.
