AS Roma has his eye on Mathew Ryan (23). The Italian press launched the report yesterday and it was confirmed to us. The Australian goalkeeper of Club Brugge after a fantastic season sought after abroad and feels himself ready for a step up. Prerequisite is that his new club next season Champions League play. Roma enlisted last weekend of direct access to the group stage. Therefore the Bruges ransom of at least 8 million should be no problem.

they'll just throw some tard into the deal for 7 million and charge 1 for ryan - a la swindon town - and CCM will only get enough to buy homebrand sauce....

I doubt a club would spend 8 mil euros on a backup goalkeeper... Perhaps Real Madrid or Man City for an elite young keeper, but that's about it!

Does he really want to be the keeper to bare the ignominy of having Ikon's hattrick go past him in the next Rome Derby?

If Roma fail in getting Scuffet from Udinese, I wouldn't be surprised if they launch for Matty Ryan.

Want him to go to EPL purely so I can watch him on TV every week :(

Interesting quote from his agent Mikkel Beck, saying they will wait for the right club:

“It”s true, several top clubs in Europe showed their interest in my client recently, including Italian teams. The situation will be more clear in the next few weeks. He can leave Brugge. The future looks bright for Ryan, but everything has to be organized properly. He will be a top player for the next 20 years. Any transfer will therefore be considered thoroughly. It’s still not sure he will leave the club, he’s loved by everybody and he plays for a team competition for the Champions and Europa League. He’s in an incredible situation here. He has a great relationship with the club as well, but the next step for him will be something greater.”

It'll be good if he signs on and comes down here for the ICC tour, in a team with Danny De Silva too :)
