I havent been able to get on the forums for 2 days on any of my devices, Ive just been getting a 403 error, now I just get a blank page. ive managed to get on using the puffin browser app on my Ipad(I don't know why it works). Is anyone else having problems?

Yep I suggest deleting cookies and/or trying with a different browser.

Just weird how its effecting both my ipad and pc at the same time, ill try deleting cookies tomoz

Do you have a Google account linked between the two devices?

Just curious where you're going with that idea? Is there an issue?

I know that certain IP addresses have problems with accessing the forums. You get redirected to an install folder (and I think a 403 error). I assume there's some firewall/web server rules intended to allow "secure" access to upgrading the forum software that are a little too greedy.

Cookies/history did nothing, did some googling and turned the router on and off, which worked, new ip maybe?

Man I thought the forums got removed, was looking on Facebook and Twitter and everything else, then I could tell by Google that people were still posting.

Massively doubt there is, but settings can be shared across platforms with Google accounts related to any number of apps/websites/etc. Just throwing ideas out there. Seems it was just router settings which is good schtuff.

Decentric just sent me the following email...

"It is probably important that you know this info, unless it is available on the forum. I’ve spent hours with the providers at Iprimus, my main provider. Four Four Two forums is the only site I cannot visit. According to the Iprimus worker, when he researched the issue at 442, or wherever, which I cannot access, many other 442 members are having the same problem. We are receiving blank screens when we try to access 442 forums.

I noted that Iridium had the same issue when I could briefly access 442 from my wife’s IPhone account through, provider Amaysim. Now we cannot access 442 forums from that Amaysim account either. We also struggled using Telstra where one of our IPads has a sim account. That Ipad also has an Iprimus account. Neither work.

The Iprimus worker said that it appeared that 442 members who are having success still accessing the 442 forum, are using Internet Explorer, and Opera, often from mobile phones. Of course I use Safari with a Mac computer. Also, Safari Chrome didn’t work either. The Iprimus worker seems to think this issue has occurred before with 442 forums and that there is a virus.

Maybe Kevin Airs needs to know this? He probably does anyway, but some regulars are currently unable to access 442 forums, when we can access anything else we want on the internet."

Did an attempt this issue cause bigger ones? Firewall rules are a bitch :(

Sorry, guys - turns out my ip bans on spambots have had a few careless entries with unexpected consequences.

People who actually know what they are doing have cleaned up my mess, reset the website and hopefully got everything running hunky-dory again.

At least 1) we know what was going wrong now and 2) I know not to EVER do it again...!

Had this issue for a couple of months only when on my adsl2 at home so was using a vpn to access the forums but seems to have fixed itself this week.

Happened to me today. Couldn't access the pages on all 3 devices. Turned my PC off which had been on for days and that seemed to work allowing me to view the forum on my laptop.

Weird.

Aren't ricecrackers and PopTech the same person?

Did what Iridium suggested, plus what the Iprimus Tech Department suggested.

That is, turn everything off, restart the computer after 10 minutes.

Like some others, I thought it was the end of the forum. It is difficult to gain info when one cannot access the forum.

There must still be a lot of other 442 regulars who have been unable to access the forum.

Unless they have email contact with other members , or go to another computer, they cannot access the site. I got back by chance. Restarting the computer had previously failed.

So turning your router off for 5 mins then back on didnt work?

Tried for two minutes.

Iprimus suggested 1 minute with the router off.

It didn't work on a number of occasions.

This time I tried for about 7 minutes. It worked. A different Iprimus technician suggested turning the computer off for 10 minutes too, then restarting it.

I'm quite concerned there are still a lot of regular members who can't access the forum and nobody knows who they are.
