Sounds perfect - as at 18 he's still quite young and obviously too young/inexperienced to get too close to Roma's senior team, short-med term. But he's also experienced enough, despite his age - and too talented enough ofcourse - to warrant more senior football at this stage of his development, as he has reflected with his time at Glory and acceleration with his NT representation - now an Olyroos star and fringe Socceroo.
It would be a better scenario to what the likes of Adam Taggart go through now, Musti Amini too - they went from conquering senior A-League level, to stuck back in youth football, U21s, Reserves of the likes. Atleast Amini was lucky that in Germany's system, Dortmund's second team is in Germany's third tier - so far less pressure/need to be loaned out. Still, like so often, it's like one step forward and two steps back - even if they didn't leave the A-League 'too early'. We saw Troisi bouncing about in Italy, after doing well in Turkey - he finally re-establishes himself via loan in Belgium now? Hopefully these experiences can be learned from - maybe the A-League improving helps too.
Hopefully the loan move works to raise De Silva's improvement even more and increase his prospects in Europe.
