Apparently released Nick Ansell, Fahid Ben Khalfallah, Alan Baro, Rashid Mahazi, George Howard, Alastair Bray and Lucas Spinella.

Bit surprised by letting Baro go. Had him for the Joe Marston medal and thought he'd done well. Ansel the other surprise.

Baro the big shock, ended up being very dependable and could play out well.
Ansell not really a surprise d in of itself, dropped down the pecking order but with Baro gone thought he may have stayed or been kept as a solid CB. 
Mahazi family issues a shame, though was lambasted for his performances thought he was at least a good squadie. 

Even though I have bagged Howard I didn't realise he was still so young, never really got a look in  it I guess the coaching staff who saw him every day know what they're doing! 
With Bray and Spineless going I guess we will hold onto Acton for another year I presume? If memory serves was an injury replacement for Bray. 

Baro heading back to Spain, club wanted to keep him.

I think khalfallah will want to stay in Australia. I remember in an interview his family love it in Aus. He is a quality player and a proven a league performer. A lot of a league clubs that struggle with visa player recruitment should definitely give him a call. Mariners? Jets? Roar? Wanderers? Could definitely use him.


Having said that fuck I booed shit the out of the guy at the grand final. He pissed me off all game. But he was very good.

That's the entire list of players with contracts expiring this season, with the notable exception of Troisi.

Pretty much confirms that a new deal is being worked on.

As longas it is under the cap and with a higher cap next year, we should be able to get Troisi under the cap.  If not we must let him go imo, a true marquee isn't going to hit the moon with every attempt at goal.

FBK's first season was class so maybe he just needs a change to re-find form. Or maybe is drop off is due to age idk.

Will be interesting to see if Roar go after him to replace Broich. 

Whilst we were very close to snatching the win in the grand final, we really didn't look like a championship winning team through the year. Sad about Baro, but we need a really big rebuild and bring in some quality to try become the best team again. 

To be fair, the only team that did was Sydney by a long way, hopefully more teams get it together next season.

Was going to say I hope PSV loan back Deng. But he's actually on loan at Jong PSV for the year and he doesn't seem to have worked out.

Yep, people might not have realised Victory's station in world football, but loaning players to a team like PSV and not the other way around speaks volumes.

Shame to see Baro leave, but I kind of see the sense in not using a foreign spot on a CB when we have Williams(?)/Donachie and Deng. 

I'm the other way. Really disappointed. He was great and his experience is essential. Deng is still young and has a long way to go going on last time he played. Williams would be far better as a DM and should be splitting the season with valeri and nigro in those two positions. We can't really on any injury prone williams to get through the whole season

Baro made Victory look like a different team. When he was out of that clash against us in March Victory were all over the place defensively. In the games he played, Victory were arguable the better side.

Baro presumably would've been on big coin replacing Del Pierre.
Maybe Kev already has a replacement in mind which is why the Baro situation has been kept under wraps.

Baro was very good without being great. We've got more room to improve in our defence than our attack and we should be looking to get players in who can help us push our goals conceded down to under a goal a game. Retaining Troisi and bringing in a better dm to partner Valeri along with a new Centre half should be the priority. Thank god Bozanic is gone to make that possible. 

Williams and Deng won't achieve that
