David Zdrilic In Germany our AFC/FFA Pro Diploma is not recognized at all. None of our licences are. Which means it is not possible to be a head coach, even at elite Academy level. One of the excuses for high prices at NPL level was the coaching. Discuss.

Are they actually not recognised as legitimate coaching qualifications? Or is it just that the Germans don't place much value on them?

Apparently there are all these Aussie football coaches working in service stations or driving cabs in Europe because their qualifications are not recognised there.

And what are UEFA/the German FA basing this on? Do they even know what is involved in our coaching courses and how they compare to european equivalents?

There isn't reciprocation between EUFA and AFC around coaching qualifications, basically, the AFC recognises the UEFA ones but UEFA doesn't recognise the AFC ones. However, you can ask to have it recognised and be provided with equivalence in EUFA, it just isn't automatic.

Its AFC owned, the FFA can't do anything about this situation regardless of content or importance it's got. It's FIFA endorsed but UEFA haven't recognized the AFC licenses for some reason, but UEFA coaches can coach in Asia, make that if you will... This whole situation is blown out of proportion as this is a AFC issue.

Just for information:- UEFA agreed to a request from the AFC to assist them in delivering the latest AFC's Pro licence and that was happening as late as March this year.

Not the worst thing.. local dad #875758 who just gets a C lic to coach his son in the U/13's is hardly going to be affected by it. Most who want to make a career out of this usually go to Europe to get a UEFA B anyway. Bigger problem is making semi-pro NPL senior coaches get an A Licence if they want to keep coaching.
