Heard it a lot from lots of older Balkan expats back in the day at Glory games. Quite amusing to see these old guys go off in half their native tongue and half English.

I think some Greek comedians in the 80's (Nick Giannopoulos and the Wogs at work guys ) may have started that . A lot of their skits involved Greek taxi drivers who would tell stories in their Greek accents .I can remember they would say whole sentences and end them with "farken".It was Greek Aussies taking the piss out of themselves and was pretty funny. I think after that it became a joke to yell out shoot farken at games. They may have even used that line in a skit about supporting football . This may help explain it watch till at least 4.29 ...that where the "farkens" are at their best .... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aka0c4f5We4 Edit ....make that Serbian taxi drivers ..

And here I was thinking it came from the more Anglo Australian football fans of the 90s. Great term. I recall something of an Australian player encyclopaedia coming out recently but we definitely need our own glossary to come out as a book! So many terms!

Yeah shoot farken is a term we should all be proud of. Miron on the money. They popularised it but it was genuinely out there on the terraces amongst the old guys. I spent many games in the 90's at South Melbourne matches amongst the old blokes, pistachio nuts and the shoot, shoot ,shoooot! farken's. I'm sure they'd been doing it for decades. Never went to a West Adelaide game but I'd reckon it wouldn't have been much different. Top thread.

Anyone who has spent any amount of time at suburban grounds and the NSL knows about this.

Playing mini-soccer at lunchtime at high school in the early 80's, we all used to say this with a fake accent, but it was all to take the piss out of the Croation guys (or Should I say Yugoslavian, as it hadn't broken up yet). That's what their dads yelled out at club games.

+xI think some Greek comedians in the 80's (Nick Giannopoulos and the Wogs at work guys ) may have started that . thats what i've always assumed. those guys were pretty funny back in the day. but of course we all know eastern europan/balkan immigrants came here well before then, so its probably wrong.

As per above, I remember first attending football in the 1980's and hearing this. I still regularly say this at matches I attend. It's one of my favourite expressions. My kids now say it.
It is probably the quintessential Australian Football saying.
To me, it's even better when it's tsoot, or tchoot farken.

I can remember hearing it myself at games ....but the Wogs at Work guys brought it to the masses.

+xAnyone who has spent any amount of time at suburban grounds and the NSL knows about this. Very much this. Growing up in Western Sydney and visiting Edensor Park, Bonnyrigg, Marconi et al. It seemed it wasn't synonymous with any particular ethnic group but ALL of them. Absolutely hilarious watching these smoothly dressed older Croation gents, in particular, wearing a skivvy and leather jacket, cigarello in hand, getting into contorted positions as they yell shoot, shooooot, shooooooot farken!!! And yes, my brothers and I, particularly when we're together, on the turps, watching a match, yell this repeatedly.

It's what the entire crowd used to shout whenever Carlos Hernandez had the ball in the opposition's half, and rightly so lol
