Very strange. He must have a better offer. Doubt it's another AL club. Maybe things aren't great behind the scenes at Macarthur. There's definitely more to this story. No way they sack him with the results he's had.

I'm sure the NPL has plenty of talented coaches who should actually get a chance to make the jump. I've had this thought with Corica being on the rocks.
He's not been great but only inherited basket cases with owners too but maybe Kewell will consider applying for the Macarthur job after learning a lot under Ange. Still, he'd be unlikely to throw away a very nice gig at the moment.

If 'Yorkey' goes to Sydney this season, he would be the first head coach to go from one ALeague team to another in the same season. Not a good look. He spends an offseason trying to win the Macbulls players trust then he goes and coaches against them immediately. Macbulls might be better off with Sterjovski, he has been there from the team's inception.

He did the same with Sydney FC as a player, I’d doubt he’d be going to Sydney FC he’s less experienced than Corica, hardly a safe bet.

So if he’s got a better offer, it’s weak as p155 for the club to say it’s by mutual agreement. The entire league just seems like a big social kick-around - players joking with opponents after games they’ve lost, coaches just filling jobs till they get something better, players just allowed to leave mid season if they get something better, club owners don’t seem bothered about results. It’s just like the BBL … but without the fireworks.

If this was just a baseless rumor, you'd think SFC would come out and publicly back Corica and squash the rumors. So far, nothing.

So given what’s been reported, it seems that Yorke and Latapy were let go for other reasons and this Sydney job has just opened up out of pure coincidence. These reasons include: After their loss on Friday, he supposedly called the players a “pub team” and said to the chairman that the club was a “joke”. This is according to Aussie Scout on Twitter which is a very reliable source. An article posted on KEEPUP also mentioned that he “clashed with the board after a stinging post-game address”. According to the same article on KEEPUP (I’ll post the link below), Yorke went to the World Cup to commentate while the players stayed home and trained. https://keepup.com.au/news/yorke-departs-bulls-former-socceroo-tipped-to-take-chargeApparently assistant Russell Latapy apparently went on a holiday a night before a match and posted it on his Instagram story. I haven’t seen the Instagram story but I did read this on Twitter.

Hmmm ok. Yorke is clearly passionate. Things were going alright. I can see how one week they had a fine win only to have a heavy loss the next week. It's done. Good luck to Sterjovski.

If you are in a "one club town" its not as if your customers can go anywhere else.

"Former treble-winning Manchester United star Dwight Yorke has parted ways with A-League Men’s outfit Macarthur FC after a scathing post-game address in which he described the [Macarthur team] as a “pub team”." https://www.news.com.au/sport/football/a-league/dwight-yorke-departs-from-macarthur-fc-ahead-of-rumoured-move-to-sky-blues/news-story/df5c8529bdc2556fab7b87b19d9a2a95Update: speculative comment deleted

But this isn't really a case of the players having hurt feelings, it's really a case of the President not liking the coach putting the club down (and clearly he has taken it personally, when in reality, he shouldn't be in attendance in the first place.

Sounds like to me he wanted an excuse to leave. This reflects more poorly on him than on Macarthur.
