Man, these two are really becoming the definition of not having your heart set on representing your country. They really seem to have no emotional connection to Australia.

It seems that both of these players could be taking a big risk of missing out on international football altogether.

They  have not necessarily got time on  their side.

Souttar and Rowles have  come from nowhere in the last few years. Aus might unearth a  couple of quality CBs a bit younger than the two incumbents, and Circati might not be needed as much for depth as he is now.

Ditto Volpato with strikers. ATM Aus has a few striking options, but as happens in football, things can change very fast. Who expected Baccus to be playing Qatar WC minutes 6 months ago? Few would have tipped him and Devlin making the WC squad as DMs.

There are a few Aussie young strikers contemplating whether to play for Aus or other countries - which helps Volpato's cause ATM. But  like the Socceroo midfield scenario, this could change very quickly. It is hard to predict.

Aus is becoming one of the most reliable paths to a WC berth. Qualifying for 5 WCs in a row is no mean feat. Ditto 11th placing gin Qatar. Aus is an increasingly attractive option for a player.
