I'd actually assume a few of them. Maybe even more than a few.
Plenty of reasons to pull out now, obvious one being financial requirements. If they can't secure the bank guarantee now, their bid is essentially over. No point submitting anything if they don't have their financials in order.

Anyone seen any other club announcements? Surprised/worried it is this quiet to be honest.

Very quiet. but I'm not too worried. I'd be very surprised if the FA don't receive enough proposals.
I reckon clubs may be inclined to hold their cards close to their chest at the moment.
South would already be a lock so no reason not to start getting fans excited.

What's gone wrong at Bentleigh? I thought they might have been an outside chance for NSD inclusion given they have been one of the better Victorian sides of late, but they didn't even make stage 2 and now they've been relegated.

wonder how long it will be before there is p and r between the nst and the npl? My guess from what I've heard from JJ is 3 years

If they start with, say, 12 teams, then I'd like to see 1 up/0 down from the get-go to grow the league to 16 teams, so you can have a 30-round home-and-away season. After that have normal promotion and relegation. It means the initial clubs would have an initial safety net of four seasons before they have to worry about relegation, but clubs lower on the pyramid have something to aim for right away.

do you think the clubs would of known the costs required to enter before they got to this stage?

if they knew this, and are still in the running i'd be surprised why'd they pull out now. If they didnt know, then i can see some dropping out.

According to Lawrie McKenna (Sydney Olympic) and the South Hobart chief, neither had been given any paperwork about the RFP for a month after the 26 EOI's had been accepted. So I reckon there was a fair bit of unknown requirements still at that point.

The way the FFA have worded their process also suggests there may be a fair bit of testing the water to see what level the bar can be set at.

Just as an example , Rugari said he'd been told the Bank Guarantee would be $250k, then it turns out it's $500k

Galatas at the AAFC said he was proud at the amount of clubs that had entered the RFP despite knowing many would not be successful.

My feeling is that some of the 'minnows' would have seen the writing on the wall, combined with their own risk and say 'We've done our bit to support this venture, we'll sit in the reserves for now'

I like this idea. Would prefer two at a time though - hate the idea of bye rounds....

Attitudes like this to real clubs who've put their hands up for the NSD don't help that memory fade
