Hi Paul
Now I was reading your 'straight from the dugout'cloumn in thsi months Aus 442 and when finished I thought to myself 'I think I've read that somewhere before?'...
Picking up last months UK 442 I turned to Hugh Sleights 'straight from the dugout'column and noticed it was almost world for word exactly the same as yours....
The joys of copy and paste eh???? #-o

No shit, half the articles from the magazine are borrowed from English FFT. The Australian FFT obviously doesn't have the budget to employ an immense staff with which to fill it's catalogue so they take some articles from an affiliate magazine. I don't recall that being against the rules. Where's the magazine you're the chief editor of again? And why are you still buying a magazine you campaign so vehemently against?

Yeah dumbo what I was getting at was Paul Handsfords so called love affair with South American football started in exactly the same way as and at exactly the same time as the UK 442 editor's did..... So either its a coincidence of he's a fraud...;) My guess is Paul Handsford nice bloke that he is is just some posh facker from the home counties who got into football when it became trendy...#-o

But I guess nobody else is allowed to comment on something you've been wanking off to for the last ten years.

I think Afroman, the 20000 post kid is slightly missing the point here but anyway I'll try and explain in simpler terms so maybe with a bit of luck he can understand...
At the front of each issue of Australian 442 Paul Handsford the esteemed 'editor in chief' of the magazine writes a short piece called 'from the dugout'.
It's meant to be a quick take on his thoughts about the magazine for that month and in this months 'special' edition of the magazine they have several extensive features on South American football.Paul Handsford writes in his 'from the dugout' column how he found the wonders of South American which if you have seen the mag you would have almost certainly have read.
Funny thing is the UK editor Hugh Sleight wrote almost exactly the same thing in his 'from the dugout'in the UK edition the previous month and my point is that Paul Handsford copied him word for word because being a johnny come lately football fan he probably didnt have a clue about the game in South America apart form what he's heard on SBS since coming to work for 442 in Australia....
I think you've been sussed on this one Paul am I correct???

My local newsagent doesn't sell the english version of the mag, so can you post the two articles as comparison?

Do yo ever post anything other than criticism for this forum and magazine? What kind of lonely, sick, messed up fuck has nothing better to do than that? Unless of course you are the real Fozzie which would pretty much explain it all. 442 Australia is an afilliate with the UK version thus trading stories and pics is very common. My dad is the editor of the Bendigo paper and they are affiliates of The Age, The Age take photos and stories from them all the time, they merely ask for them and thats that.

What 20 posts in 5 weeks?? It's hardly AfromanGT 23 hours a day territory is it?? And of course I can understand the need to copy and past major stories and articles from the UK edtion otherwise Australia 442 wiht its half hearted staff writers would probably be a total flop with 100 pages of piss weak nonsense but its an opinion piece,an editors letter if you like,I mean Simon Hill doesn't copy Henry Winters column, change a few words here and there and then try and pass it off as his own does he?? #-o #-o Edited by Fozzie Bear: 26/4/2009 05:02:20 PM

Yeah, that's all well and good Fozz, getting tired of the same old "you spend too much time on here" taunt. I have a FFT tab open when I'm on the net, that's all ;) But do you reckon you could see your way to posting the English FFT's "From the dugout" from said issue? That would be tops in terms of evidence.

To be honest they dont put it on their actual website but Im sure once Ginger Nuts reads this topic he having access to the text from the magazines internal website will put it up himself...

Obviously you've got the magazine there in front of you, it would only take a couple of minutes tops to type up. Unless you're like my old man and are an old "typewriter 1 finger at a time" typer.

Wow, that's a lot of time and effort spent on one editor's letter there boys...
What are the chances of two English-born men of the same age having a relatively similar introduction to the world of South American football and then writing about it in a football mag?
Any similarities are purely coincidental.
PS Saying my ed's letter is the word-for-word the same as Hugh's is like saying my real name is word-for-word the same as you spelt it...

I'd like to see Fozzie's evidence, but I am a bit wary about the fact that he reads both the UK and Oz editions of FourFourTwo. Is it really such a brilliant magazine that you need to read both versions? Does he read the US version too?
This whole SBS v FFT situation puzzles me, to be honest. Why the animosity? Can't we all be friends?
What would Keanu Reeves do in this situation?
