Clarets officials took soundings over the weekend about the MK Dons chief's availability. Ince, 42, had an unhappy six months in charge of Burnley's Lancashire rivals Blackburn. But his management skills are admired and his ambition remains to boss in the Premier League. Burnley see the former England captain as having the necessary quality to fill the gap left by Owen Coyle's departure to Bolton. Caretaker boss Steve Davis and goalkeeping guru Phil Hughes walked out yesterday and are expected to join Coyle. Ex-Clarets and England midfielder Martin Dobson, 61, is in temporary charge ahead of Saturday's clash at Manchester United.
