I figured as much. But I have a suspicion that the restriction on HAL clubs being able to 'officially' transfer between themselves is going to be around, like the salary cap, indefinitely.

It may not 'technically' be a swap guys - 'Technically' it may be a case of Glory releasing Downey/letting him go and NQF releasing McBreen/letting him go. It's just that both players ended up at the other's club - you get my drift? BTW I'm not talking that it happened coincidently as ofcourse it appears this was the intention of most parties involved (clubs and players).

Swap? IIRC A-League clubs cannot trade/transfer players between themselves.

Just read an article in the West Australian saying Daniel mcbreen may be signing with Perth until the end of the season in a swap for Jimmy Downey? It doesn't really make much sense to me since he's going to ccm next year so has anybody else heard anything more about it?I'd find the article and post the link but it's too hard on my phone.
