So my dad works with one of the guys on the board of the NSWPL and he let slip today that they are in talks with he non aligned clubs to create a new top flight for mens football in NSW. They have come to this decision apparently due to the lack of crowds at Marconi and Sydney United home games and poor performances of Sydney Olympic and also in an attempt to stop anything happening in the same style as the pitch invasion at BJS over the weekend.

A lot of the push for this is apparently coming from Frank Lowy who is looking at buying all the talent from Sydney Olympic, United etc for nothing and spreading them around the A-League in an attempt to improve quality.

It is likely that the decision will be made after they speak to their lawyers and draft a new code.

The final blow to the former NSL Clubs.

If this hapens and is true than the FFA can well and truly go fuck itself and will lose a hell of a lot of supporters. The supporters won't take this lying down especially us United fans. After having our tteam rape by Parramatta Power to see it happen again by the FFA would be the last straw.

If it does happen I will hoestly support any kind of revolt from the old NSL clubs. They don't deserve this to happen. Wouldn't surprise me if it's all a load of shit but then it wouldn't surprise me if Lowy did do this I wouldn't put it past him.

Yeah. I've heard they are looking to create a new 2nd tier league comprised of most of the non-ethnic state league clubs, a reborn Hakoah (which will be named Sydney City Sporting Club), and some of the clubs from the Super League (such as Granville Rage, Liverpool, Parramatta Eagles and Sydney University).

A likely line up would be:
Blacktown City Demons
Manly United
Rockdale Suns
South Coast Wolves
Sutherland Sharks
West Sydney Berries
FC Liverpool
Granville Rage
Macarthur Rams
Parramatta Eagles
St George FC
Sydney City Sporting Club

That makes no sense. If that was to be the league you've got ethnic teams in there like Rockdale(Macedonian), St George(Hungarian), Parramatta Eagles(Maltese) and Sydney City(Jewish). To include those but exclude Sydney United and Sydney Olympic who both would get better crowds than any of those clubs is just ridiculous.
Like I said before this is something Lowy would do the cunt.

It wouldn't surprise me if part of the movement was to have those clubs rebrand into a broad-based team, possibly by renaming.

We have already been renamed twice to get rid of ethnic ties FFS. First to Sydney CSC then to the current Sydney United, yet Marconi ne'er had to change their fucking name when it has clear Italian connotations and Bonnyrigg never had to change their Jame or badge which
is basically the Serbian coat of arms. I wouldn't bother tryin to rebrand the teams into broad based ones it won't happen the clubs won't allow it. If Sydney City is going to be a club inthis supposed we comp then you know Lowy is behind it and this is low even for him.

I did not even state to get rid of sydney united,marconi and sydney olympic they also need to stay as there the back bone of football in this country and buy the looks of it the FFA are trying to dismanetl or destroy any club that has history at all but creating these new fabricated franchises not clubs. and blacktown don't have large crowed numbers at all out of the 650 specators at the game there on sunday 95% of the supporters where from bonnyrigg anywayz.
