Stupid Vic Bogans!

What do you think about the FourFourTwo article SMFC Fined Over Pitch Invasion?
SOUTH Melbourne has been fined and handed a 3-0 loss following the abandonment of its round six clash with Heidelberg United in the farewell to Bob Jane Stadium.

Have your say.

It's not clear from the article if the actions of the fans were more of the old ethnic rivalry between traditional clubs. If it was ,well all those traditional club fans who are A-League haters, better get used to State league football. If these traditional clubs can't control their fans, there is no way those clubs will be allowed into a National B-League.

this is the perfect time to let all the nsl lovers that this is why it was abolished . the stupidity of these people semms to get the better of them every time .i think that the ffa should make another strong stand aggainst this kind of crap and relegate these taems to a lower division .there must be a zero tolerance ruling put in place for these kind of clubs that dont take the responsability apon themselves to deal with these kind of hooligan morons because that is all they are .and dont deserve the resapect they are calling for to be placed in a b-league for they have no respect for the people who are trying to implement it (the ffa) and the a-league fans that they hate so much............. idiots.

So whenever an A-League club has crowd problems should they be dropped down to a lower division.

They have to treat every casen by it's merits and not just crucify one team because they are of a particular ethnic background. It's not as if this was a riot FFS.

It reminded me straight away of the shit that went on in the NSL. Aren't we glad we left that all behind and I can now take my son to games without worrying about someone carrying on like a violent loony. Good to see the FFV's action on it too.

The whole situation is unfortunate, and I am glad the FFV have dealt with the matter strongly, all clubs have dickhead supporters. I just hope these clowns realise the damage they have done to their club and their code in Australia.

The above 'i wouldnt take my family to a nsl game' attitude' is very much part of the reason why the nsl teams wont be allowed back in.

They are VIEWED by those who have no clue about them as ethnic clubs with violent/lunatic supporters. I personally think its a load of bullshit and that the NSL seemed to have had far more passionate supporters (be it far less in number) and produced more and better youth players. The technical level escepially of some of the a-league developed players are atrocious.

In saying that, I am a a-league supporter and the current league format has the POTENTIAL to be a far far better league then the NSL was. The clubs appeal to families and casual fans as there is the perception of a more friendly casual environment. More money involved in the game, media exposure etc etc. But in terms of how a football club should relate to its supporters (the culture) and in youth development (youth teams all the way down etc) we could learn a thing or two from our predecessors.

Hmm, Syd Cro, I think you need to check your stats and also your language!

Yes, the NSL produced alot of talent in its day, and as we know it didn't appeal to the general population of football followers.

I think the main concern is the penalty that was handed down. Very soft indeed! Soccer Victoria has handed down harsher penalties for less in the past. I think there is a bit of favourism towards South Melbourne on this one. Preston and St.Albans will spitting chips and asking for their cases to be re-opened on this very very soft penalty.

OK. So it wasn't 99.9%

But there are only 2-3 players in that squad who didn't come through the NSL.

Is it me or is the average IQ level of Melbourne Heart fans (which i assume you are) considerably lower than everyone else on this site?

Lets "relegate" Adelaide United & Melbourne Victory fans next time these 2 fans clash and cause trouble. How about that?

I was at the physio today and the physio started talking about soccer and his work with Campbelltown City. I asked him if he attends AU matches and he said he goes to 4 or 5 a year. His next comment was how unsafe he felt with his 13 year old son in the Southern end of the East Stand and he was "appalled by the behaviour of fans". This discussion occurred this afternoon! i played it down of course and i still blame stadium security for letting AU/MV fans sit within arms reach of eachother. Either way your point is ridiculous.

As for your comment about zero tolerance, the club issued a LIFE BAN to 3 ASSOCIATES. No written warning. No 3 strikes you're out. What more do you want?

I was at the game (firstly let me say I am not a SMFC supporter), and this has been blown way out of proportion. Those of you on this site who where there will probably agree. It was just a case of some clowns getting over excited at a 94 min equaliser against a team that had not won a game. Yes, it was stupid by these people and, yes the club should be fined, and yes these idiots banned. To say the old NSL was crap etc etc, is not a fair comment. The NSL was the first national sporting league of any type in Australia, and was the forerunner to the current A-League. Sadly the supporters of some of these clubs have done them a dis-service over the years which is why the A-League was all new teams. To have an A2 League (not a "B" League - the A in A-League is for Australia, and B would be what, Banana..??) with these teams is the way forward. Creating a new division fo new teams simply would not work. The SMFCs of this world, have okay grounds, have decent players, all they need to do is rubber hose some of their small minority of fans who do stupid things. Having said that I don't think promotion from a Div 2 to the A League should be a given, there should be a play off, and the promotion candidate should also meet strict critera.

Good argument.

BTW its the Bangladesh league. we need an A2 league. This is what one of my mates wrote from a victorian perspective.

okay new idea for the FFV and the VPL0- new division called the V-LEAGUE. league should consist of 12-16 teams. Should consist of teams like Geelong Warriors, Ballarart red devils, Bengdigo, south east melbourne and then chuck in the rest of the top VPL teams and so on and ofcourse still have religation. A melbourne based football comp is hurting our sport and has to stop.

List the ethnic riots that happened during the NSL and I don't mean a group of fans in a bit of a scuffle. If you're going to throw wild claims like that you better be ready to back it up.

Dude, listen carefully, there is no difference between the violence of the Old Guard and the New. None of it is acceptable.

World Football has experienced religious, political, racial and what i call geographically-based violence (city or state denomination)

The crowd trouble of the NSL was typically a mix of racial and geographically-based violence

The crowd trouble of the A-League is typically geographically-based violence.

So what's the difference i ask you? NONE.

That's my point.

In fact more people get evicted from cricket matches than our football matches. I think the media in general for some reason are anti-football. Which is why when two people have an arguement it ends up being reported as an ethnic riot took place.... I also go to the AFL and some comments generated at players and opposition supporters are downright racist and I have seen fights (albeit on small scale) it is just that these sorts of things are not widely reported. Yes, it seems there are major fights, maybe even 'riots' at overseas games but are they being reported acurately or is it a typical media beat up to make it worse than what it really is....

Totally agree, Red Eye, not to distract from Daniel1991 comments as I am sure he is a passionate supporter of the game which I do applaud. If 1991 is his year of birth, I am sure he hasn't seen the game from the late 80's, to the 90's and the early 00's. NSL was great in producing talent, quality players, fantastic rivalary and emotions. The game has moved on, so lets move with it to.

The only thing lacking is that the FFV should be pressing charges against the three people who jumped the fence that where given life bans. As should the others be identified.

There must be laws, such as trespass, public nuisance etc. that can be used. I am also sure restraining orders could be sought banning them from any Football involvement.

If this situation happened with AFL, the Clubs would not be fined or points deducted but the individuals concerned would be dealt with severley, which is as it should be.

The FFV reaction is no different to what the ASF did when they ran the NSL and it got us no-where.

Arthur, while i'm no law expert, i do remember reading about that dick "Peter the Pest" who has repeatedly invaded sports games at the tennis, rugby, cricket etc.

According to this article i found, one can be charged for "assault and entering a playing field without authority".
