tommycash - the payments were made through 'third party deals' so it's entirely possible that the players had absolutely no idea that it was coming from the club.

As for Wilkshire on the right, why would you do that when you've got Emerton who can play there and is just as good?

Hmmmmm, Indeed. Well Maybe then. But It's likelier still that one of Emerton and Wilkshire will be used in RB. Williams isn't at their level yet.

Are we really supposed to believe an article which shows a clear lack of football knowledge like this?
It's like saying Colosimo, who has been playing with Australian club A-League.....
Cmon lads sort it out. Tromso IL not Tippeligaen.

Come on your smarter then that kiddo. I know they wouldn't have known if they were going over the cap or not but you don't receive secret third party payments and not think it's a bit dodgy.

Well if you look at it that way then yes, you could say they are cheats. But it's the club's fault for offering them the extra money. If you were in their shoes would you say no to some extra money?

Well I would like to think Id not be as stupid as they were in the way they went about it.
But let's not be silly "oh he offered me some cocaine so I thought hell why not?" These are grown men (rugby players I know) they have the brains to work shit out for themselves.

I have to disagree.
Wilkshire is far more important on the right for us.
He is the only one in the side who can deliver a decent cross time and time again.

People aren't saying Chipperfield is crap, we are saying that his backups are crap which is true

Carney is not and never will be a leftback. hes a very useful left midfielder...but not a leftback

I'm content with Carney being back up but after him, the level drops tremendously.

Hopefully Jason Davidson will solve that problem in the future

Carney is probably the worst back I've ever seen. And this from a Liverpool fan who had to watch Djimi Tarore playing on a weekly basis.

For when he did play, Chipperfield was no doubt one of our best on the field. Yeah, he may be 34 but he is still quality. His performances for Basel have been brilliant, judging by all reports. And having David Carney as back-up is saying something. Just remember some of his goals (eg. vs Ireland and Nigeria).

Whilst I agree with you that our LB position is pretty decent I have this to say. Chippers, Whilst playing regularly has been used as a striker. I'm sure he can adapt though.
And Carney has had no time on the pitch. But again he has in the past proved that this is no problem on the international stage for him. As for Lowry he did well for Plymouth when he was there in the Championship. I think he's going to be a kid with a big future for the roos.

Chippers has had a grest secomd half of the season, but Carney has hardly played. I know Pim likes him - but he has no game time - though he will be on the plane. The good thing is that Wilkshire can cover for LB as well.

Just throwing this out there but what about Bosnar at LB. If he went he could cover for CB and LB which is versatility that we need more then anything.

Yep, consensus would be then that we have some real problems with LB, and Pim in all likelihood will provisionally add Lowry and we'll have to watch how things pan out with Chippers & Carney.

Jameison makes mistakes every week in the a-league and the ACL mate. maybe if we were talking about the 08-09 jamieson then id probably agree with you, but hes gone backwards this season, his technique is just awful these days and half of his crosses end up in the stands...he isnt much better than heffernan who is another player who is very average.

i would say lowry is also average, but not as average as the other 2...(i think ive said the word average about 15 times now, but you know what i mean i guess) plus has versatility on his side where he can, if getting desperate, play in central defence

He is rubbish as a left back. His distribution is terrible and he offers nothing in attack. However, he is a very competent central defender and i am sure he will be playing in the premier league in a few years from now.

Controversially perhaps, I'd back Jamieson over Lowry @ LB. He has more oomph, can take on players better, great with free kicks, and creates more forward momentum, whereas I only tend to see Lowry go long.

Well, yes Lowry was heavily involved in the mixup which lead directly to the BR goal, and was subbed for Howson, who managed to equalise less than 10 mins later. I'm not sold on Lowry as left back, but it appears we are getting desperate there.

Colosimo - training with a dutch club (forget who), Lowry - regularly starts for Leeds, Moore - not even playing state league, Spira - rarely gets a game for Reds, Milligan - regularly playing full games in J.2, Ogenovski - regularly playing full games in K-League and ACL. I think i know who I would prefer.

I know right, Give me Spira over anyone anyday. But to be honest I'd rather anyone bar Milligan. I don't think he has it on the world stage. The others have proved they are. Oh not Beechy. Hes shit house.
But Don't despair. It is only three they confirmed in Lowry, Macca and Collosimo. So Wait our defence is pretty much set with those picks. However the rest are just the writers opinions.
