Well I hope he's right! But this 'scare' has underlined Australia's weakness upfront. If Kewell doesn't make it, we're stuffed. What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Kewell: I'm No Quitter? HARRY Kewell has insisted he's still set to take his place in the World Cup in South Africa next month despite admitting his niggling injury has forced him onto the sidelines again.Have your say.

Hmmmmmm, Interesting he says he may be in England for the Asian cup? Good on him he's a true battler. I wish he wouldn't risk aggravating the injury and just rest but thats not in his constitution.

A few papers in the UK suggest Kewell is heading to newly promoted Newcastle United. Can anyone confirm this?

I want Harry @ the WC but if he is injured they should not gamble on him, they need to consider a replacement.

One Harry Kewell... there's only one Harry Kewell.
Even if there's only a chance he will play 15 minutes against Serbia Harry needs to be on the plane. That's more game time than some players will get (hopefully including Hopelessman) and Harry will have more impact in 15 minutes than any other player could, except maybe Tim.

Might be a good time to mention that Josh Kennedy is the J-League's top scorer at the moment..

My soccer club had a big 40th year anniversary dinner on Saturday night and we had a special guest speaker in Gary Moretti (Socceroo team manager). He said Kewell's injury is only minor and he doesn't want to take any chances by playing out the rest of his club season. It's a groin strain. But not the infamous groin.
Fingers crossed.

How can there be so completely different opinions from a coach at the club in Neeskens, and Kewell? I think the injury is not as minor as Kewell would have us believe. Its been a "niggle" since December. Thats not a niggle, its a long term injury.

Hey leftrightout, Did Gary Moretti have any other interesting anecdotes you wish to pass on? About the Socceroos or Claude Leroy?

It doesnt seem TOO positive. I hope he gets better. I dont think we could even consider a draw against Germany and the last thing that we want is a loss first up. It is going to be an interesting campaign if we dont have him.

I thought it was that they didn't have money to spend, so bosman deals i don't think are ruled out as yet

("Re that #NUFC announcement, why even publicise you're not signing players? At least let fans renew season tickets first ...")

If Newcastle were to sign kewell he would be on a free transfer so he would only cost his match payments etc as he is of contract.

If there's anyone who didn't need to tell us that, it's Harry.
I can't see him returning to england either, his body isn't up to it anymore. He'd light up Bundesliga though.

Gyruss wrote:Hey leftrightout, Did Gary Moretti have any other interesting anecdotes you wish to pass on? About the Socceroos or Claude Leroy? No he was pretty tight lipped other then that he said kewell will be named in today's squad of 29 but their is still a chance other player that are not named can make it. For example if Kewell pull out at the next cut off period then another player can be selected to take his place. Galekovich has a good chance seeing they're naming 4 keepers. IIRC.
