First half - Federici Second half - Jones Then we get a direct comparison which I'm sure will be great for future reference What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Schwarzer Out But Who Gets The Nod?? A SPRAINED thumb will keep Socceroos keeper Mark Schwarzer out of Monday's friendly against New Zealand, but coach Pim Verbeek is confident the Fulham man will be fit for the World Cup warm-up match against Denmark on June 1 in Johannesburg.Have your say.

agree with cbowden
really hope to also see the likes of ruka and oar in the match.
also why thake 27 to south africa when 4 have to be dropped. why not take 23 and not give 4 players more false hope?

It would be funny if this was a conspiracy and Swarchz isn't injured and Pim just wanted to see Jones and Fed play but he didn't want to get flack from the media.

Liverpool_4eva, you take 27 so that the 4 youngsters that you take (like Holland, Oar, Ruka) get some experience in being in squads and an insight into the pressure of WC campaign. that way when they get selected 4 years later in the true squad, they are less at risk of going to pieces.

I was at the training on Friday at Olympic Park.
Schwartzer was def injured (in the rooms the whole time) while Adam Federici impressed. A great point blank save to deny MacDonald in the warm up match! Notably it was Galekovic and Federici who played while Jones had crossing practice... It's gotta be Federici!

To be fair, I don't think there was any point in playing Schwarzer anyway. Fed and Jones half and half makes sense.

I can't wait to hear what the final 23 will be. You know oar will at least be there in south africa. I wonder who will be the other 4 that will miss it.
As for Jones, I've played with him and I know he's a good bloke and a great keeper so I'm happy to see that he made the squad alongside federici. Our future is in safe hands, so to speak ;)

Jones is a quality keeper, he just keeps getting paid out by a few who are stuck on that one game he played many moons ago.

Jones is a dud, how he got picked in front of Galekovic is hard to understand. Pims hate of a-league i guess.

Have you watched Jones play? Other than the game he played for australia that he struggled in, I mean.

$@$#@ wrote:Jones is a dud, how he got picked in front of Galekovic is hard to understand. Pims hate of a-league i guess. haha sure he is ;) that's why he's been overseas playing in a competitive league training alongside some of the best players in the world for almost a decade - Galekovic is great but he's no Casillas nor is Jones but I know what he was like before he left for the UK and like most keepers they've had some off days. Come to think of it, Schwarz very much had a stop-go career when he first hit the national side and he didnt exactly set the world alight at the the turn of the century either but he and the defence got better over time and thankfully for that he's the most trusted hands we've ever had :) Adam federici has yet to debut but good on him for showing his determination all year at Reading - don't forget he's had a howler or two as well. Jones and Federici should get a full game each - Jones in this one, Federici in one of the lead up games in South Africa - because we need all of them to be sharp in case of injury, and we need clear evidence for Federici being number 2.

Galekovic was the only keeper that took part in a practice match yesterday.
