Good on you macca i think you're unlucky to miss out i wish you all the best at boro you still got one more world cup and the Asian cup. What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Reject Macca Won't Burn Bridges? SCOTT McDonald's manager says World Cup results will determine whether Pim Verbeek was right to dump the striker but the forward won't be lashing out with a verbal blast at the Socceroos coach. Have your say.

If you are chasing the game, say we're losing 1-0 to Serbia in the last game, who comes on for us?" Sicca said
Ummm Timmy ?? Rukia?

Results by Australia either way in the WC are irrelevant to Macdonalds axeing. The bottom line is he couldn't score in a brothel!

I have waited three years to see what Macca can do for the national team when partnered with another striker. I hope the next coach is more flexible.

I also hope the next coach adds some flexibility. Sticca sounds like a bit of a dick. sorry to hear about Macca.

Ronaleano. If I was chasing the game, 1-0 down to Serbia I wouldn't punt on a player who has never scored at international level. McDonald may be a great player who scores regularly at club level but the reality is he just doesn't fit into Pim's plans.

McDonald has had clear chances to score..missed sitters in international games.
I wouldn't want him on the park if Australia was chasing the game.. obviously i proven goalscorer, but when it comes to the Socceroos he appears to have a mental block. I wouldn't punt on him breaking the spell at the World Cup

Show me ONE sitter he has had and missed. He had one good chance, when he played in Sydney last year, and put it over - but it wasn't a sitter. Other from that he hasn't had any chances where you would think that if you put Cahill or Kennedy in his shoes, they would score.

I just hope someone scores! As for his manager, I hope he's not wishing for us not to score just to prove that his player should not have been overlooked.
I hope we score a heap of goals but I am one of those supporters that would have liked to have seen Mcdonald taken to SA. I like his attitude and those goals will come.
he'll get a look in at the asian cup and if so he can prove then that he should have been taken to the world cup :)

Harsh to kick him out because of one performance.

macca should be there as a sub in case we really need a goal, god knows pim would go against the 4231 formation and play a 442, but if he did macca would suit it perfectly..
i mean really how hard is it to pull off grella or culina with 20 to go bring macca in next to kennedy and tell timmy to drop back a few yards

I have a weird feeling that Carle and Macca will go to the Asian cup and run rampant under the new coach....
Will be interesting to see who gets the gig and their style of play.

unlucky macca, probably deserved better. griffiths should take note how to be a gentleman when things dont go your way, rather than a bitter snob (regardless of whether he had a case or not)

The lone centre-forward upfront only works if we have a world class, or near world class, centre-forward. Unfortunately, we don't have one. We really should try the 442 like others are suggesting. I feel gutted for McDonald being left out. Hopefully we can see him at the Asian cup.

Under a new manager, Macca will hopefully thrive, and top score at the Asian Cup.
I can't wait till his first goal for Australia. I will go nuts. \:d/

Will be interesting to see who gets the gig and their style of play. Imagine a lineup with a front-line of something like ----------Macca -- Jesus Kewell--- Carle -- Cahil --- Bresc/Emmo? Chipper-- Lucas -- Paddy --- Wilkshire/Emmo

Macca's a professional. He's my favourite player for Australia. I was absolutely gutted he didn't get to South Africa. Although he is yet to score he has chipped in with quality assists in some games, for instance the first Qatar match in Melbourne where he laid it off for Brec to score. Its just crap that he never has had the opportunity to really have a crack. I once noticed a ball being parried off from the keeper to another socceroo but just never coming back to where Macca is. Unfortunate.

Scotty Mac will thrive at international level when he has a manager who believes in him and plays a system that suits our best striker. I cant wait for this awful Verbeek era of playing a crappy system and winning very ugly to pass. WE qualified for the World Cup despite Verbeek, not because of him.

Good work macca and keep up the hard work. Lets hope the next coach incorporates a system to suit his style a bit more.

Missing sitters is worse than never getting chances. Sure, they are both pretty bad, but the latter is worse as you can work on the former.

A proven way to make it into any team as a goalscorer is to score goals.

Class act, Scotty. If the new manager is more adventurous and plays with 2 up front, you'll be back to partner Kennedy. The 1st half against Qatar in the Prelim round of WCQs - with Scotty and Josh up front - was the most exhilarating 45 mins of football played by Australia since the 2006 World Cup.

^^^ Was there for that match and i thought, yep, this is as close to exciting Dutch football as it comes. And then Verbeek stamped his mark on the 'roos. If the next coach is more adventurous-and I think the FFA will state that as an expectation of the coach beacsue it will lose support of we have another 4 years of Verbeek football- then Mav will do better.
