Middlesbrough’s Williams happy being versatile
29.05.10 | Andrew Slevison
Middlesbrough’s Rhys Williams says he doesn’t mind not having one position as his own and would rather be versatile as it gives his manager more options.
The 21-year old is in South Africa, striving to make the final 23 of the Australian national team ahead of the World Cup and is content with the fact that head coach Pim Verbeek is able to play him in a variety of positions.
"I just want to be in the 23 and wherever the boss wants to play me then I’m happy. I’ve played central midfield for my club and right-back here, but I’m comfortable in either position,” he said.
"It’s good to be able to play a couple of positions."
