The best keeper in the world (Schwarz) would have stopped all of those goals - even the penalty. Augurs well for my A v G world cup tip: A poachers effort from Timmy Cahill after 78 minutes of Sauerkraut frustration... 1/0. What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Germans Ease To Victory? GERMANY put in a convincing performance in their World Cup warm-up match against Hungary, winning 3-0 in Budapest.Have your say.

We are going to kick the doors in and the whole rotten edifice will collapse. These 'strong' teams always play weak teams like Hungary in the lead-in because they are scared of losing. I watched the Serbia/Kiwi game and everyone rates the Serbs too... but in truth the Kiwis beat them easily with just a little luck and great organisation and pluck. And we beat the kiwis with a little luck, and the Dutch in Eindhoven which even Mexico couldn't, and the Americans almost won the Confeds Cup. I think in this game you make your own luck by disturbing the opposition with your intensity. The Kiwis have had a long time together and our camp will get us back up to that level of team communication if Pim settles down to business. Everyone is at the same level now internationally due to advances in communications and sports science. The best value bet is North Korea to beat Brazil. In the meantime, come on ANZAC, go you All-Whites, come on Aussie!

Neasden_rovers, Are you drunk? Hungary is no Powerhouse but they are not necessarily a 'weak team'. They did after all manage to beat Denmark in qualifiers and draw with Russia. Australia could probably beat them but not necessarily dominate them the way Germany did. It is very hard to disturb the Germans because they are so methodical, sit deep and they will hit it with precision from outside the box, push out and they will stretch the defence and start getting around players in one on one battles. Australia shouldn't be scared but they need to be aware of the Mammoth task that is required to get anything.

Anywhen notice Hungary's slow backline getting shown up against the pacy German attackers. Also the short one touch interpassing around the box by Germans. Very difficult team to deal with, as pushing up leaves you open at the back and sitting deep allows them to play around you or do some of their trade mark long shots. Still I prefer to play Germany over Brazil or Spain anyday.

Quote:Germany facing 'brutal' World Cup selection calls after friendly win From correspondents in Budapest, Hungary May 30, 2010 . In the wake of his side's friendly win over Hungary, Germany coach Joachim Loew admits he faces some 'brutal' decisions when he finalises his World Cup squad. Germany warmed up for South Africa with a convincing win over Hungary in Budapest, with a Lukas Podolski penalty and second-half goals by substitutes Mario Gomez and Brazilian-born Cacau sealing the win. Loew will sit down with his coaching team to decide which two players will not be travelling to South Africa with the final 23-man squad. "There will be lots of speculation in the next few days,'' said Loew. "The coaches will sit down together on Sunday and Monday with the coaching staff and announce the squad on Tuesday. "Of course, it will hurt for the players concerned, but unfortunately we can only take 23.'' Midfielder Marko Marin, Cacau and striker Gomez all impressed, while Hamburg midfielder Marcell Jansen made his first appearance since suffering an ankle injury in January. Bayern Munich defender Holger Badstuber came off the bench to make his debut, in the second-half, but Loew knows two of his players will soon be suffering World Cup heartbreak without even boarding the plane to South Africa. "I haven't yet got the two players in my head who won't be going,'' he admitted. "The decision will be brutal, not only for the players, but also for the coaches.'' With Germany captain Michael Ballack injured and out of next month's World Cup, Bayern Munich striker Miroslav Klose took over the skipper's armband. Germany were rarely troubled by the Hungarians and are sure to face much tougher tests in Group D against Ghana, Australia and Serbia in South Africa. "The Hungarians didn't have many chances,'' said goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. "But on the other hand, it was good that we crated a few goals of our own.'' this result is no concern at all. If you actually watch the game hungary were atrocious and gave up after the first goal. The result is in no way an indication of what germany will or won't do in SA. Move on...next game please.

Actually, I would say that the Aussie team is a better reflection of contemporary Australia than any other team.

Cahill could have played for Ireland as well. Georgios Samaras could have played for us after his father was born in Melbourne. A list of players born in Australia but chose to represent other countries: Joey Didulica - Croatia Graeme Rutjes - Netherlands Anthony Seric - Croatia Josip Simunic - Croatia Tony Dorigo - England Peter Tasevski - Macedonia Sasa Ilic - Serbia Avraam Papadopolous - Greece Buddy Farah - Lebanon Michael Reda - Lebanon Manny Muscat - Malta John Hutchinson - Malta Peter Pullicino - Malta Joseph Tabone - Malta This is a list of players that weren't born in Australia but were eligible, but chose other national teams: Christian Vieri - Italy. Raised here. Brother Max Vieri went on to play for Socceroos Craig Johnston - England. Born in South Africa to Australian parents. Only ever made U-21 appearances for England. Shane Smeltz - New Zealand. Born in Germany to kiwi parents, but raised in Australia. Ivan Ergic - Serbia. Born in Yugoslavia, raised in Australia. Ki Sung Yong - South Korea. Born in South Korea, raised in Australia Alexander Duric - Singapore. Born in Yugoslavia then relocated to Australia, then moved to Singapore. Played the Socceroos in a friendly in 2008 Just imagine if some of those had chosen Australia:lol:
