German World Cup SquadJust been doing some looking, and I am astonished at how inexperienced this squad is! There are only 9 players with more than 15 caps experience for the Germans, compared to 16 for the Socceroos, 15 for Serbia and 15 for Ghana. Yes, I know they're still very good players, but who knows, in a pressure cooker international fixture, that experience may be just enough to get us across the line!

The spine of the team have plenty of experience, plus the other "inexperienced" players have played in Pressure cooker club games a plenty.
They can field a pretty decent team from only three different Bundesliga teams.

They maybe more vulnerable than previous German squads but they are still a very strong team, and we will struggle to get a result out of them.

When I first heard we were drawn alongside Germany, I was absolutely shattered, because that was the last team I wanted to play. Yet every day I grow more optimistic we'll pull off an upset against them. Everyone (Even our so-called 'supporters' in this forum) seems to be writing us off before we've even lost a game (Both in friendlies and matches that count; cursing Holman and Verbeek at every turn) and this will work to our advantage.
Hitherto, the Germans have done well at every World Cup tournament, I think they're due for a bad tournament. Every so often in roulette, the ball keeps landing on black, but sooner or later, the trend will be broken and the ball lands on red. Only a matter of time.

Germany weren't rated at 2002 either and look how far they got.
Underestimate the Germans at your own peril.

Terrorist attack. Seriously though, I'm far more confident in recent days then at the start.

Underestimate the Germans at your own peril. I'm not underestimating the Germans, just think they're due for a bad tournament. Wishful thinking, maybe. Good point, though. I'm sure though that all teams are aware of this point and will never take the Germans lightly. Just looking at wikipedia at the 2002 tournament. Germany 8 Saudi Arabia 0. WTF? Had no idea such a blowout occured at that tournament. Or maybe I just have a bad memory.

Germany may have a bad tournament but the problem is they never start a tournament badly. That's the biggest problem playing them first. They aren't like Italy who are perennial slow starters. Germany get out of the blocks quickly all the time. Look at 1994 for example. They lost to Bulgaria in the quarters which they would consider a bad tournament yet they still went through their group undefeated. In 1998 they went out to Croatia 0-3 in the quarters which they would consider a failure. They went through their group undefeated and only conceded 2 goals. In 2002 they made the final after proving everyone wrong. They went through their group again undefeated scoring 11(8 against Saudi Arabia) and conceding 1 in the process. In 2006 on home soil they came 3rd and agin proved most people wrong, and once again they went through their group undefeated. That's just the last 4 World Cups I'm sure if you go back even further you'd see even more examples of how Germany never start a tournament badly. They may have a shit tournament overall but it's a guarentee that they get off to a flyer. You have to back all the way to 1986 to find the last time they failed to win their opening game, a 1-1 draw against Uruguay. 1986 was also the last time they lost a group stage match.

Red, red, red, red, red, red, red, red, red.... ;) I understand what you're saying, but I think Australia are the type of team to surprise a big team like the Germans. History is against us... again... but our national team are angry and are determined to prove the doubters wrong. We can do it.
