some inside news from this State League Division 2 Club.

Partnership between Hercules and the Greek Orthodox Community (GOC) is almost official.

Advantages of this:

* GOC wants Hercules to be the Official Football Club of the GOC

* Canterbury Bowling Club is basically bankrupt, and Canterbury Council has given the GOC and Hercules first preference in getting the property. GOC wants to relocate there Club in Lakemba, to Canterbury as many Greeks are complaining about going to Lakemba and want the Club in a more Greek area. The deal works that the GOC will have full control of the Club, but Hercules will also use it as there Club. Belmore Hercules will have full control of the Bowling Greens, and will turn it into futsal fields, to run futsal teams, hold summer competitions and etc, and earn revenue this way.

* GOC and Hercules are in a very strong position with Canterbury Council in buying Blick Oval off the council. On top of this, the Council are happy to returf Blick Oval and remove the cricket pitches off them, and make it a football only Oval. Renovation of the change rooms and canteen areas. Belmore Hercules will own half the Oval, and the GOC will own the other half of the Oval.

Ironic that at a time when many are wanting the nasty ethnics to go away, they are going out and starting MORE clubs. Horrible to think that there is such passion for the game in some communities. Can't possibly be good for the game that people actually want to start new clubs, can it?

Hercules have been around for a while mate used to be a top club and correct me if im wrong was the main feeder club for Olympic? I say good luck to them and suprisingly have alot of south americans in their side instead of greeks but probly thats down to their coach.

Benjamin, what are you on about? Belmore Hercules is a historic Club and have been the host of many great talents. Where did Tim Cahill get his first First Grade break? That's right, Belmore Hercules. Whenever his ex coach from Hercules goes to England, he is greeted with a limousine and direct transfer to Cahill's house. Belmore Hercules should never have been dropped from the state leagues where it rightfully belongs until bullshit politics with FNSW got involved and got em dropped.

Nah, only 1 South American. First Grade is like 3/5 Greek and Reserve Grade only have 3 non-Greek players which is great :D 4 Italians in First Grade.

First grade coaches are Italian, reserve grade coaches are Greek.

Didn't realise that they had been around before - the rest of what I was saying was actually a piss-take out of the standard 'mainstream' witch-hunt line and a celebration of the continued involvement of 'communities' in local football. I would have hoped that my history on this forum would have been a clear indication of my feelings on the issue (but can understand that anyone relatively new to this forum wouldn't pick up on my tone).
