Send Verbeek to Morocco now please. A manager-less team would've been better. What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Disaster In Durban? AUSTRALIA were thrashed 4-0 in their opening clash of the World Cup as Germany outclassed them with devastating efficiency and the Socceroos were reduced to 10 men with the dismissal of Tim Cahill.Have your say.

Morocco won't want him. Disappointing obviously. Outclassed, Poor red card

We were outclassed. Tim Cahill wrongly red-carded.
That said, the Germans are dirty cheating pricks that could easily beat us without doing so. Clear clear simulations, glad to see the referee picking a couple. IMO they should certainly be red-card incidents themselves, as it's a play to get another player carded. VERY dirty.
Unfortunately I think we wont make it out of the group stage now. My ideal and totally unrealistic scenario would be to see both Ghana and Serbia beat Germany (haha, yeah I know) and we beat both Ghana and Serbia.

WTF was Pim thinking? Sure Kennedy was in Germany and is a known quality but playing Garcia up front left us with no tall timber and no idea.Timmy was played in a way that he had no hope in hell of adjusting to.I hope that if we lose against Ghana then at least Verbeek will give all the young kids a run in the next game, as they are gonna have to be blooded and soon. The red card was disgraceful and that ref ought to take his hand off his knob.Nikita and Holman actually linked up rather well, but three defensive mids shows us just how wrong the Pim system is with that cricket score.Dubious Kewell,Kennedy and Bresch..either way we will be hardpressed to score goals AT ALL now without Cahill.Scotty Mac should have been there instead of Garcia who is just a journeyman, not a striker that can scare the opponents we face.

Two massive positives from tonight 1; Pim WILL have to be positive and chase two wins(fingers crossed for actual strikers) 2; Emerton, class act, head and shoulder above any Australian player
Oh and Pim, don't bother wiping the eggs off yet, there might be plenty more coming if you keep it up.

Garcia wasnt the problem OsakaDaz. It was the pressure on their midfielders, runs off the ball. Ozil and Mueller cut us apart.

but Pim gets results blah, blah, blah. I said this would happen way back when. What the fuck was Moore doing? If you are going to play an offside trap perhaps you should tell the rest of the backline. Mini Vinnie is better than the real Vinnie. Ruka played well when he came on and so did Holman.

a good coach gets the best out of good players, he doesnt change them he changes the game they play, IMHO pim has tried to reinvent each player, instead of working with the skills he has, he has coached any flair, ambition or creative flair from these players, no one willing to take a risk, without risk comes nil reward........ and the shape still sux, how much room do you want to give the krauts?????? even space in midfield to setup camp and oitch a friggin tent, and offside traps agains the best football nations in the world????????epic fail

I don't think Garcia was too bad actually. Neither was Cahill in fact. The "system" was just stupid.
Maybe now Pim will realise Grella is not worth starting, he did nothing special. And Moore showed he simply doesn't have enough pace. Oh, and Pim will probably be regretting not having Macca there.
You know......most of the things the fans have been saying.
Holmans energy was again good. Emerton was good. Culina provided a bit of creativity and was solid. Ruka showed he can scare the opposition with his pace. There ARE some positives to take out of this, but Pim should have learnt these things long ago.

We dont have the same quality players, simple as that. The only way we were gonna come away with points is to defend very well and ride our luck and hope they don't finnish their chances and then we either get a penalty or a goal on the counter or from a set-piece. Germany scored two decent goals in the first half which highlighted Austrlia's slow defence with Moore, then we were very unlucky not to have a penalty and go 2-1 which from there anything could of happened. Then Cahills red which i thought would even be harsh for a yellow and from there we were always gonna lose the match, it was just a case of by how much. Some positives are Valeri, Holman, who both played very well imo and are only young and will be around for the next world cup and also the experience that Rukyavusta got.

euroos..there is no doubting the gulf in class and the skills of those two players tonight, but I have never seen the qualities in Garcia that Pim sees (although I will concede that tonight was the best I have seen him play) and certainly we didn't lose the game in the top third.Pim must have come off his meds and just thrown all the plans out the window.Agreed that Valeri was quite good.

Yeah, Ruka and Holman did seem to link up well. We must start with a striker. But, why was Ruka used and not Josh? Has he fallen back in the pecking order? Or has he picked up a minor injury?
From this performance, it is looking like we aren't going to get past the group stage. I just can't see where the goals will come from. And, as others have mentioned, no Cahill makes the task much harder.
Anyone know if we'll be getting Kewell and Bresc for next game? Really need those two for the next match.

I felt the general play of the team looked pretty good, certainly better than we've seen in previous matches. Can't fault the decision to leave of Kennedy, based on his form, but we needed a better alternative than Garcia. Rukavytsya looked decent when he came on there.
Biggest problems were players still occaisionally going in for pointless and niggly fouls, and some questionable organisation at the back. Our marking definitely needs to improve, and Lucas needs to pull his finger out - he's meant to be running our back line, and instead he's often the one caught out not marking closely.
Still, based on the other game I'd say we're still in with a decent chance of going through. Neither Ghana nor Serbia looked all that sharp.

If I had any energy left I'd quote all the post's about people agreeing with Pim's decision to pick Moore over Ognenovski and Bosnar. We were ripped apart with Neill having to play marker, sweeper and covering defender when Moore was caught marking thin air. No one can rightfully defend Pim for this result, it has been coming since our abysmal performance's in qualifying, where Schwarzer single handedly kept us in most matches. Now we need wins against Ghana and Serbia, unless Moore is replaced and Kewell is 100% I can't see that happening.

Germany played like Germany...but Australia did NOT play the way we did in 2006 In 2006 cahillw as playing deep with Viduka and Kewell up front...fast forward to 2010 and no Dukes and no Kewell..what did you expect from Timmy...the lads played well, but the system was all wrong...not too late..we must regroup and can beat Ghana and Serbia....with no Cahill next week against Ghana, the roos must play two up front!
