our old team got shown up for what they are today . PAST IT What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Durban Disaster: Socceroos Rated ? THEY came, they saw, they got thrashed 4-0 by Germany. The Socceroos may have failed as a team, but how did the players bear up individually? We rate them one by one - leave your own ratings below.Have your say.

Harsh on Wilkshire, but I'm happy to see this is not the usual glossing over. Neill was found out tonight. Sup[posed to be our captain - acted like our ball boy.

I mainly agree with the ratings, but Neil wasn`t at fault for the first goal. Grella lost the ball in a mirror image of the USA game. And he did save a goal. He was the best of our defenders, which doesn`t say much. Maybe a 3 for Neil.
Also, Garcia did OK, but not 6..maybe 4. He was playing in a forward position had two chances and missed both. Macca would have scored both goals.
How would you rate the manager? 1, 2? How can you play an untested lineup in a game like this. The result is as expected, but Pim should take the main responsibility. Cahill should never have been in that position, it`s almost Pims fault he got a red.

Does a straight red mean 2 game suspension? Why you would play you best midfielder as a lone striker when their strength is to surge late undetected in to the box, is just fucking dumb!

Pim: "we are going to have revolutionary last minute tactics. defenders will play midfield. midfield on attack, and attack in defence...oh and we will be playing only half of our first eleven" Edited by coco84: 14/6/2010 07:14:40 AM

Using Pim's pre-match comments of 'not giving up, attacking, going for a win' as a guide then everyone was shit. Grella, Neill and Moore should be shot
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

yes a few of those ratings are a little harsh i think particularly Valeri's. The way our defence was shredded apart similar to against the US does not surprise me what does though is the way the media continually refers to how strong our defence is and how hard it is to brake down. The teams we are facing in the world cup are much stronger then alot of our Asian competition. It shows the level of understanding much of Australia main stream media has of football

Muscat -10 you negative, hacking, germ. if he wasn't commentating we would have gone way better. Best player Emmo for sure. (7) Grella (0) Moore (3) Culina good as usual (6) compared to the german machine mids thats a fine compliment. Where was "Handbag" Harry we want hat -trick Harry!! purely an accessory in SA according to the pragmatic dutch hairpiece.

We were shown up bigtime. A very fair indication of the gulf between asia and european footballing nations. Our midfield were slow and totally ineffective. In my view Grella (0/10) should be used as a sub if at all in any future games and then retired. Lucas needs a size 11 up the date too (2/10)continually made to look second rate. Emmo was the only shining light (7/10). A very unaustralian performance. At 2-0 we dropped our heads and put the cue in the rack. Wasnt our night. I couldnt believe we didnt get a penalty for the BLATANT hand ball.

U gotta give it to Germany - they played great - the best of all teams in this WC thus far IMO. They were very very strong in attack, really great crosses and goals. Australia were vulnerable (maybe even woeful) at the back and inept up front; but showed glimpses of the possibilities with Emmo, Cullina, Wiltshire, Holman, Rutsa, and even Moore playing well. In fact I thought our midfield was as good as the Germans!!!. Big call I know, and no doubt will be torn apart by the doubters. I thought Rutsa looked sharper than Kennedy, and Holman sharper than Cahill. And we may still have Harry - Pleeeeaase.
So; its on to Ghana and 2 wins - which is not impossible.
As u can see I am an optimist.

There seems to be a lot of Valeri fans on here, but i've gotta say this kid's gotta get his foot on the ball a whole lot more if he wants to earn his spot.
I would only mark it pass, fail and epic fail:
Schwarzer - pass Wilkshire - pass Neill - epic fail Moore - epic fail Chippers - fail/lucky to not get an epic fail Grella - epic fail Valeri - fail Culina - pass Emmo - pass with credit Cahill - fail Garcia - fail Holman - pass Ruka - pass Jedi - pass
Pim - %$^&*##@(*&*^%^

Moore is on a yellow after his ridiculous tirade..given his ageing legs he should be replaced by Beauchamp next game. That is a cert.Kennedy has to play too.Maybe even have another look at Vidosic at some stage..if Pim can have the guts to make some subs. If Pim has brought Harry over as bluster and he really is unfit to play then he deserves a bollocking...players like Carle and McDonald would have been handy aces up the sleeve. Grella would also be seen as a liability in the next crunch game. was Pim's strategy that he knew we had no chance against Germany so leave out a few familiar faces to save them for the next two games? All well and good but having a 4 goal deficit isn't.Maybe Pim knows us better than we know ourselves, and that he thinks we will play better on the back foot and win the next two crucial games as underdogs? How we can do that without Tim Cahill is beyond me. If that WAS his plan he should have left Timmy on the bench and played Kennedy..and if Kewell is crocked he should have never been on the plane.Period. Good play to Holman and Nikita though..those guys with Emerton and Chippers gave usa bit of zest.

Valeri was one of our best. Chippers not remotely past it - look at the US game. He was obviously told not to attack too much in this game. Play him in midfield for Christsake! As good as Emmo on the other side. I'm glad Cahill is out - give him a chance on the bench to become humble again. And let Harry and some youngest a chance to get out form the Cahill cult. It was always coming since NZ.

Really disapointing. Your ratings are pretty much spot on. Our best were Swartz, Emmo and Garcia. The rest had shockers. Grella should be retired with Chippers and Moore. If we lose against Ghana its time to build for the next campaign and play a young team vs Serbia.

Very harsh on Valeri in my view. He looked OK. Right about Emo, best on field for us. Culina played well too. And so did Holman when he came on. But gee, this hurts.

Had no chance as soon as blue away strip was worn. Would love to know reasoning behind that decision? I'm asumming FIFA make the call but what would be wrong with one team in White and the other in Gold? Not like you are going to get confused? Too much realiance on the offside trap...and this bussiness of defenders standing still with the arm raised appealing to the linesman while the bloody opposition is steaming on to the ball gives me the shits quite frankly! The linesman is never going to think.."Oh Craig and Lucas think it's offside better put the flag up" for Christs sake.

I think Moore's ratings were generous. Both he and Neil got exposed time and time again. A little harsh on Chippers and Wilkshire - they had to try and cover the centre pair as well as try to do their own jobs (admittedly they did neither well). Chippers should have been subbed off after the red card. His legs obviously went.

Pretty harsh all round. Germany will own this group and get to the semis pretty easily based on last night's performance. What would we be saying now if the penalty had been given, the ref gave Timmay the correct card and we held on for a 2-1 loss or maybe even fluked a draw? This was one of those game that hung on a few decisions.

Why the F***do we always get the worst refs, Croatia, italy and Germany! Ratings are pretty spot on although Schwarzer was largly responsiable for the 1st goal. I dont blame Verbeek i just read the FFA was putting 6million AU fo the next coach. They know they need a quality coach, personally i think Australia is fucked. Ruka and Jedi are not bad players but they are simply not at he level we need to produce. I dont see te point producing players for the J-league, english League 1, turkish super league? we should only produe players for the top 5-7 leagues in europe England, Italy, Spain, France, Germany and port and Holland. If it means we have no overseas player so be it no more duds in squad Germany showed the quality of a 1st class 1st division team if we ever want to win a WC this is how we must produce players. We need a team of 11 1st division players who are playing in top european leagues. Without it we will never be as good or better then 06

Ruka was woeful as sub as he esentially is a good A-League player. By Bye Moore, Bye Bye Chippers, Bye Bye Grella and possibly remove captaincy from Lucas Neill all woeful!!
