How about he tries defending his decision to play 4-6-0 and fucking Garcia? And Culina as a left winger? Fucking Pim. What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Pim: Why I Didn't Play Harry? PIM Verbeek has defended his decision not to use Harry Kewell at all during Australia's 4-0 drubbing from Germany - and refused to guarantee the injury-plagued veteran will play in the Socceroos' next game against Ghana on Saturday.Have your say.

After Cahill got sent off at 2 - 0 down with 35 mins to go I wouldn't have risked Harry either. However, Pim's flippant 'I am responsible for team selections' with no decent explanation is just not good enough. The fans deserve more respect Pim. I deserve more respect.

ur a fucking idiot mack. Althoguh I do agree with you on the formation, Garcia was one of our better players. Tell me, what would have you said if he scored that goal at the start of the game? You'd probably be all over him praising him.

^ Garcia was not our worst by a long way. He did ok considering we were getting shat on everywhere on the park.

Pim, you did'nt select enough strikers did you or the right ones. All respect to Garcia but you should have played one of your selected strikers, then you may not have had the problems you had in your midfield. Might not have scored goals but hey.
It is obvious that being Dutch does not make you a great manager or tactician, i hope that your performance at this world cup does not effect the development focus we are trying to bring in to play in australia.

Defense - two dms - Culina, Cahill, Emerton - Kennedy.
Is that so fucking hard Verbeek?

Agreed Garcia played ok. Wiltshire and Emerton were also quite good. Emmo especially. Holman looked good coming on. Jedinak despite trying some silly arial passes seemed ok. A few positives to come out of it. Out with the old, in with the new. It's going to be all the sweeter when we beat Ghana.

I wouldn't have brought on Harry. The second half was damage control, the only option was to bring on Ruka in the hopes that he could get something on the counter. We saw glimpses of his speed in part. I think you'll find Harry will play 90 mins against Ghana. We obviously need to beat Ghana, but if Germany pound Serbia like they did us, then the Serbs will be already out of the competition and completely down hearted which plays into our hands. All is not yet lost.

Well, I was impressed with Holman, maybe this game was his turning point?

obviously hes not going to say "kewell will start the next game, so make the necessary preparations ghana!", and it would be terrible coaching for him to do so.
however his squad selection was poor as shit. i'd rather an off form striker gain some confidence by playing than the shit show we had yesterday.

I tend to disagree, I think Kewell has needed to come on for some game time for the past 2 games now.
Yes he may be overcomming injruy, but how can you expect him to be a key player for us when he comes into the second game of the world cup (4th game whilst we have been in SA) with no match time?
But maybe his return to the XI will be as successful as Emerton's... just maybe[-o<

For the next game against Ghana, I think Pim needs to read this and this.

Why the hell would he risk him on a result that had no chance of being slavaged? It's probably the best thing Verbeek did during the whole match imo. The real issue is why our best player was isolated in the lone strikers role and why Verbeek refuses to adapt his formations, he alters his 4-2-3-1 into a 4-6-0 rather than mix things up a bit

Holman has really improved his form for us in the lead up to the world cup. He should be starting

TimmyJ wrote:Holman has really improved his form for us in the lead up to the world cup. He should be starting Yes you're right, he has improved. But he is much better as an impact player. I'd prefer Culina in Tim's place with Valeri proving he can cope at starting DM

It wasn't going forward that was the problem - you guys actually kept hold of the ball very well. The problem was your horrible defence made up of older players and Verbeek choosing to play a high line.

Harry wouldn't have made a difference by the time Pim was planning to put him out there anyway. Germany are top notch, they deserved the win.
Not saying I could do better but Pim picked the squad, he hasn't really developed it much over the last 2 years. . . it's the best of 2006 + up and comers who play for or got picked up by, Euro teams in the last 2 years he's been here.
His options are limited, and his game plans seem to be as well. He can take the blame for both really . . . Just hope he fixes it quick and proves a lot of us wrong by getting them up for a couple wins in the next 2 weeks.

With fast players being able to get behind the line like Klose, Ozil and Podolski, it was never going to work with a high defensive line. Obviously Pim missed that memo...

MvFCArsenal16.8 wrote:lappin im hurting too but hell we have two more games to play we can conjure up a miracle !! and heres hoping pim plays jesus and harry up front with holman/vidosic/ruka as their lil man Thats it. We have Emerton, Wilkshire and Culina in top form so they will get the ball to the lads up front. Then its just up to Kewell/Vido/Rukya/Kennedy to do something with it.
