The Asian confederation is off to a great start. Apart from the Roos but heres hoping...

What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Japan Edge Out Cameroon?
KEISUKE Honda enjoyed a belated birthday celebration as Japan regained that winning mentality with a 1-0 victory over Cameroon.

Have your say.

African teams are overrated. Japan played a solid defense, but Cameroon looked clueless as how to score.

This was one of most boring games i've ever watched especially after watching half-assed Dutch team.

They kept losing the ball and Cameroon just playing long balls at altitude.. let's hope Ghana performs like them

I thought this was the most exciting finish to a game so far this tournament, with Japan deciding to just defend for the last 20-30 minutes of the match.

Japan have a great chance to qualify I think. Denmark were pretty poor in their game.

Australia-Great individual 'names' based in Europe, poor "team" effort and shit coach.
Japan- mostly domestic players with talent, great "team" effort and shit coach.

My wife was pretty stoked.Good on Japan for shoving it up the Japanese press's nose and believing in themselves.

Some people have alluded to ego-driven player squabbles in the Aus dressing room..One thing the Asian teams do is play as a unit...somewhere in the last 4 years especially Australia has lost that vital concept.

Still see South Korea as being the ones to watch.Fast, technical and tough as nails.

Funny though, the Japanese media after slaughtering the team are referring to the win as "our win". They (the media) will crush you as fast as they will pick you up.

The goal was kinda against the run of play. Seconds earlier cameroon had had a decent shot on goal - abeit it going straight to the keeper.

I was tipping Cameroon to win. But Japan played well for their win, especially after they had had such a disastrous buildup, having to throw a friendly against Zimbabwe within hours, and still be held to a 0-0 draw.

WOLLONGONG WOLVES FOR A-LEAGUE EXPANSION!

Was really suprised by this result, I didn't give Japan a chance considering their form leading in and inability to put the ball in the net. Unfortunatly I put my money where my mouth was and paid for it.

Have to say it was a dire game, one of the worse to watch so far, and Cameroon looked very very average.

Japan played really well as a team and deserved the win.
Their poise and control, patience and comand of the game set them up for it.
I only with the Aussies could have such a great domestic league in which to pool a depth of talent from.
Actualy, we do, Pim just won't use a non-Euro based player for fear of dirtying the pitch with their A-leauge breed inferiority.
Cameroon played ok, had some chances in the last 10 mins. Probably should have bombed the ball that deep for the entire game as their mid field was lackluster.
Japan showed once again the samurai blue spirit, of what can happen when you beleive you are good enough, try hard and play as a team.

日本、日本、日本! よく頑張りましたね。 よく出来ました。 過ぎの試合でまたグッドラック =d>

Oh god... I was cringing for the entirety of the last ten minutes.

What the hell is wrong with Japan when they're in the lead in the last moments of a match and how they just give up the ball as soon as they get possession? The only player who was doing the right thing in my book was Honda and how he worked it into the corner and was just trying to run down the clock.

I was screaming at the Japan team to keep possession and run down the clock and do what Essendon always did in the AFL. Just get possession and chip it around until the clock runs down.

Japan don't know how to win games convincingly.

Is it just me, or does Endo SERIOUSLY need to be dropped? He is such a liability to the team in my opinion. He has the reverse Midas touch. Everything he touches turns to shit. I saw so many free kicks he took which were wasted due to his poor execution.

Are the Japanese media really that bad? I watch the news here sometimes and I have never perceived the media as being unfair (I guess my Japanese isn't that good though).

Bandwagoners don't annoy the shit out of me, because bandwagoners are primarily the people you are trying to win over to the sport.

I don't like Australian football fans/snobs that in one breath complain about the sport not being popular in Australia, then in the next breath complain about bandwagoner supporters and don't have any tolerance for them. It's a really counter-productive attitude to have (Dicrimination against those new to the game) and it's one of the biggest factors holding the sport back in this country. Essentially, the bandwagon supporters and middle-men are the people that can make or break soccer/football in Australia.

tbh, I think Japanese media and supporters had all rights to be pissed off, considering Japan's horrendous pre WC form. I mean losing twice to South Korea at home is basically a national shame in Japan, even if the Koreans are playing better. Plus Okada blabbing on about semi finals wouldn't have helped either.

our media on the other hand...

mainly the print media and the vicious 2chaneru bloggers and bbs.I really think that Japan can beat Denmark but the Dutch will be a stern test.Have to agree with you socceroossupporter..the Japanese are very guilty of foundering when they get a lead...although that was once a very Aussie thing to do too.LOL
I wonder if Shunsuke will take part against the Dutch?
