Puts a fair bit into perspective. The worst we have to worry about is freezing our balls off at 4am. http://g.au.sports.yahoo.com//football/world-cup/news/world-cup-fans-executed--fbintl_yahoo-au-8b7b70348d14360c6501e8a4fdad39c6.htmlQuote:World Cup fans executed Yahoo!7 - 5 hours ago
Islamic miliants have executed two Somali football fans for watching Nigeria play Argentina on Saturday night.
The deaths happened in Central Somali which is under strict Islamic law and forbids anyone in the region from watching World Cup matches.
Militants from Hizbul Islam arrested 10 fans who were also part of the group.
A further 30 people were arrested for watching the Australia vs Germany game the following night.
Sheikh Mohamed Abdi Aros, a spokesman for the militants, said that, "We are warning all the youth of Somalia not to dare watch these World Cup matches." He said that the people of Somalia should focus on pursuing jihad and not, "watching mad men jump up and down." Hizbul Islam had previously invited Osama bin Laden to Somali.

Demetriou has an open job offer for these guys!
Seriously though, it's horrible what people do to each other, thanks to religion.

Quote:Two men executed for watching the World Cup in Ethiopia Wrong Country. No big surprise. Anybody who has done any basic research on Somalia will know that fucked up things like this happen every day in Somalia. For example, it's Un-Islamic to listen to music in Somalia. I'm suprised the militants are allowing people to breath. Next they'll ban talking altogether. The only solution is to nuke the country, the UN have tried to intervene, the US tried too and to a certain extend still are with the occasional air strike on militant camps, but yer, it's a failed state.
WOLLONGONG WOLVES FOR A-LEAGUE EXPANSION!

Quote:The deaths happened in Central Somali which is under strict Islamic law and forbids anyone in the region from watching World Cup matches. Not strictly true. They're banned from watching television. Quote:The only solution is to nuke the country, the UN have tried to intervene, the US tried too and to a certain extend still are with the occasional air strike on militant camps, but yer, it's a failed state. The US didn't really try to intervene, they just sent a battallion over to check things out and gave up.

Not religion really, its about one group of pricks wanting to control all the other poor bastards. Africa's World Cup, I think not.

I think Hutchy is referring to the tribal conflicts in the sudan. But you're right, that's pretty well what religion ammounts to aswell.

Yeah I see that, I was just trying to show an ironic second meaning there.

Hmmm one wonders how truthful this article is. Seriously, we never hear ANYTHING come out of these countries that are in constant civil war. The most we know about it is from Black Hawk Down and Tears of the Sun ffs!
I'm pretty sure the government in those countries didn't release a press release stating these executions to the world.
Makes you think its just another one of those "stories that are made up to highlight the threat of terrorism and Islam in the world to justify the west's war and retaliation." Just like those bomb breast implant stories. All that does is breed fear and justify full body scans at airports.
/1984 conspiracy theory
I'll probably be arrested for thoughtcrime now.
