We need to recruit a world class coach.
My pick is Lippi, a man who has won it all. World Cup, Champions League, World club cup, european super cup, 5 scudettos, 1 coppa Italia, 4 Italian super cups, 3 champions league runner up & 1 uefa cup runner up.
Second choice is Capello.
We someone who will take us to the next two world cups and to brings the juniors up to the ranks & someone with huge experience will help us to be competitive against the big nations like Germany, Italy, Brazil so we won't be thrashed 4-0 again.

NONE of those managers would EVER consider coming to manage Australia. Except perhaps Hiddink.
Capello is committed to England. Lippi turns everything into a mate's club and is of retirement age, ie not up for the immense travel. Wenger and SAF will never leave their respective clubs, Advocaat has already turned us down twice and Van Gaal is being persued by Liverpool and Bayern want to keep him, no contest there really.
We'd be lucky to get hold of Rijkaard, at best. The FFA will be focred to go with their third or fourth choice again and it will probably be someone like Gullit, Lavicka or Houllier.

Ottmar Hitzfeld is another great coach who is leaving Switzerland after the world cup. Why not him?

I've been saying it for months but Johan Neeskens is the perfect realistic choice.
You say you want a coach to take us to the next two world cups and you go on to name Lippi and Capello as your first two choices. Both coaches the wrong side of 60 and way way way out of our price range.
The best realistic option would be Neeskens. He knows the players after having served under Hiddink, was said to be the mastermind behind Rijkaards great Barca team and he's Dutch which the FFA will love.

Quote:I've been saying it for months but Johan Neeskens is the perfect realistic choice. If we went with Neeskins that would be simply because he's Dutch when there are other more qualified candidates. And look how that's worked out with Verbeek. And I don't know that Neeskens would be up for the travel.

We know the FFA are going to appoint a Dutch coach. What other Ditch coaches do you think are a realistic chance of us getting.

I think taht it would not be outlandish to hope for a coach like Rijkaard or Koeman. The thing with Neeskens is taht he's always been the understudy and I'm not sure whether that's with good reason.

Let's stick with Viddy. He's cheap and he always get lucky in the big games!
Seriously, then at least we could put some money into the JUNIORS, and then maybe we would actually have a decent squad for any coach to work with at WC2014.

To be honest I wouldnt mind using Viddie as a caretaker. He has proved he can be effective from his results in the ACL and has also proved he can spot and develop telent e.g. Leckie.... And while we are at it put Viduka in charge of youth development, then maybe we will start producing good strikers.
