I'm still tipping Spain or Holland. The loss to Switzerland might be the kick in the arse Spain need to start destroying opponents. They have the best squad on paper and their past results have been impressive, the Swiss result was just a blip. Holland have the X-Factor in Robben, Sneijder and Van Persie, not many teams will be able to deal with their skill in the attacking third and they look solid at the back.

Messi gets the ball, gets closed down by three defenders and turns it over. He isn't playing well. He didn't get a shot on target agaisnt Korea.

When they won the European Championships they had Marcos Senna in the side, who makes a massive difference in stabalising their midfield. Spain played with arrogance and lacked the desire to win. Their performance was just lazy and if they play like that again, they won't be winning anything.

They were flat footed, didn't move. Statistics lie, most of their shots came from outside the area. They lacked the ability to break through the Swiss defence because their forwards were just standing there. They didn't start to look up until Torres came on. And by then it was too little too late.

Previous performances count for little. Argentina's qualifying was mediocre but they're playing well. Conversely, Australia's qualifying was apparently 'good', but we're playing terribly.

I think afromanGt totally forgot about that and the fact they are european champions with practically the same team and I'm the douche? Teams have bad days and its not like Spain played like shit either. Switzerland isn't a team that should be overlooked. They have a very talented group of players who held their defence well.

Just to add, no attacking drive!? What game were you watching? I pretty sure spain had a little over 20+ shots. All they can do is pass the ball? Their qualifiers had something like an avg of 3 goals per game. Spain is ranked 2nd in the world... yeh they aren't world class at all, I'm so sorry for even suggesting that.

Basically everything that came after that was pure shit. Messi does fine without the barca players by his side (did you even watch ARG VS KOR Game?). I'll go with Germany.
Traditonally they perform at big tournaments and they look to have a very quick and strong squad this campaign.

Mind you, it is only the first round (and a bit) so its very hard to judge atm.

Yeah, world class team that couldn't even break through Switzerland's defence. Nice work from the 'world class' side. All they can do is pass the ball. There was no movement off the ball, no attacking drive. Just sheer arogance and lazyness. And they paid the price for it. That's not the sign of a world class team.

I hope you're right about spain, I still think they'll make it out and hopefully alongside Chile ;)

Laugh it up - England and Spain will be there at the pointy end.

I wouldn't rule out a team because they have had a slow start. For instance Brazil, Spain and Portugal each won all 3 group games in 2006. France started with draws against Switzerland and Korea, before going all the way to the final, knocking out those 3 teams on the way.

At this stage I'll tip Argentina, ahead of Spain and Brazil.

From what I've seen, which is every game, because I'm off work for the month (!), I think the Germans and Argentine's have put the best case forward...
