Why? He has failed at every team he has ever coached???????? What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Sven The Man For Socceroos?? SVEN Goran Eriksson is favourite to land the job of Socceroos coach with one bookmaker reporting big backing for the former England and Ivory Coast boss.Have your say.

Not impressed so far with candidates. Better and cheaper option would be to give it to Paul Okon with Vidmar as his assistant. Unless they come up with better candidates than LeGuen? and Eriksson.

We need a coach who is a winner - Sven & Le Guen don't meet that criteria.
Who are the people who make this decision ?????

I dont think Sven is the guy to fill the position and prefer Frank Rijkaard to other above mentioned coaches.

Notable feats as England manager
* Germany 1–5 England World Cup qualifier 2001 * England 1–0 Argentina 2002 World Cup
(highest ranking No.4 during World Cup 2006)
* Managed to reach the quarter final in three consecutive tournaments (WC 2002, Euro 2004, WC 2006). No other European country achieved this during this period, and on an international level only Brazil. England was also, apart from Sweden, the only European country that did not suffer elimination from group play or failure to qualify during this time (2001–2006). Coincidentally, the same manager Luiz Felipe Scolari knocked England out of all three of these tournaments, first with Brazil and then twice with Portugal. * Achieved the highest point percentage in Major Tournament Matches of all time for an England manager.[11] * Lost only 3 full-time competitive games and achieved top qualifying place in all three International tournaments during his five and a half years as England manager. * Rated by the FA as England's 2nd most successful Manager after Alf Ramsey.
I'd take that.

Frank Rijkaard and Johan Neeskens team would fit that platform we have nicely.

I think Sven has had a pretty good record.
Question is, would he base himself here or in Europe?
I'm one who thinks a coach basing himself in Europe isn't a bad thing, as long as he has a number of trips out here to watch some of the A-league, and then of course he'd be here for World Cup qualifiers anyway.

I dont think he was that bad he had Ivory Coast for like a month and he had them matching Portugal when only a few months ago they were destoryed by portugal. Why not i say a britsh manager might get some of our guys back into the EPL for another golden generation.

Dugongs wrote:I'd love to see Johan Cruyff as manager. Too bad it will never happen :( Yes, Cruyff would be an interesting choice. His philosophical outlook would be too much for many Australians, especially in our immature football media. I tell you who would be really amusing, and that's one Eric Cantona! Wouldn't we get some philosophical musings then!

Well he probably fits the "Better than Pim" criteria, but should that be enough?
He also likes bringing his own backroom team to his jobs, but the FFA have stated they want the next coach to take Vidmar as an assistant. Is that going to be a problem?
