I agree, I don't see what would have helped them.

The Serie A also has a mid-season break. Can't say it really helped them.

Also another thing EPL dont have a mid winter break and Bundesliga does , its not why they won on the day but it does help to have the mid season mental break holiday.

Upson has to cover for Terry. The twat wasn't to be seen at all.

+1. Clearly, they were the better side. Superior sides don't get beaten 4-1 like that.

Upson and Barry were basically at fault for all four of the goals. That's all there is to it.

Don't have decent World class strikers apart from Rooney... who of Heskey, Crouch and Defoe is genuine world class quality?
Lampard and Gerrard played out of position
Apart from Terry and Ferdinand they don't have genuine world class Centrebacks.

Is it really any wonder they were beaten?

England really were shocking in this WC. Slow tempo, minimal skill and even the stars looked average. The EPL is fast, yet this team plays so slow. It stands to wonder why there is not a push for local player content in teams as it seems the current system in England really is not helping to develop the English players. Even Capello is qouted as saying that he looks at the EPl and gets excited then realises that very few are eligable to play for his team.

Capello has been successful at every club he has gone to in the past 20 years. He comes to england and he fails.

Sven has been successful at the clubs he has managed, he comes to england and he fails.

The common denominator is England.

Until england realise that they are not so hot shit and get their act in order, they wont win again.

the days of the blood headed terry butcher and stretched out gordon banks, relentless bobby moore and dynamic bobby charlton, are long gone and being shamed by the current fa and england players.

For the first goal. I'd blame poor defending. For the second again poor defending, 3rd was Gareth Barry's fault as was the 4th.

None of the goals conceded yesterday was down to tactical naivety just simply a team that is not good enough.

Just like Austrlia were beaten due to inferior tactics by PIM
