That 'prank' was absolutely disgusting. They should be ashamed of themselves - but you can be sure they are not.

What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Barca Stars Get Shirty With Fabregas?
CARLES Puyol and Gerard Pique forced Cesc Fabregas to briefly wear a Barcelona shirt during Spain's World Cup victory celebrations in Madrid last night.

Have your say.

Why can they not just celebrate his achievements? He is playing great football in a side that plays great football, yet they down play it and belittle both him and the club he plays for, do they not relise that they are being totally disrespectfull to not only Arsenal but Cesc himself?

I don't think they really care. They have become to consumed by their own self worth that they think they are free of any guilt. They think they are above everyone else and they can do whatever they want.

TBH I don't think the club really cares, because it just reaffirms their decision to not sell him, it's going to be funny seeing the reaction from Arsenal once Barca come back with another bid.

What I really didn't like was Pepe Reina introducing him to the crowd as the future of Spain and the future of Barca:evil:

tapping up? it was exactly the same with Henry, they play this game in the press where the players say it'd be great to have such a good player playing for the club and that Henry/Fabregas would be perfect for Barcelona then the president comes out and says that we're interested and it was apart of there policies when they got elected to the presidency blah blah blah it gives me the shits how they use this press campaign and know that they'll get there man after awhile even if it takes 18months like it did with Henry and even with Madrid similar to there campaign with Ronaldo, Kaka, Beckham etc etc.

atleast the english clubs don't go out and speak publically about there transfer targets... sure Chelsea are interested in Torres but you haven't seen Abromovich and Lampard come out and say there adoration of Torres and how he would fit Chelsea perfectly etc etc...

It's tapping up to the extreme. You can bet if the shoe was on the other foot and Arsenal were doing this we would have been reprimanded heavily a few times already, but of course it's Barca the sweetheart of UEFA so they can do whetever the fuck they want.

they way Barca have gone about this is really pathetic. The players to come out in the media so often is really disrespectful to fabregas himself who said he wanted to leave all this till after the WC to focus on the tournament but you've got his own national team mates coming out saying how he should join barca for the good of his career.

As I said Arsenal have made one public statement and that is to say he is not for sale at any price. I really don't understand how hard that is to get.

After taking Henry they were already incredibly easy to hate among Arsenal fans but now they've taken it to a whole new level and taken it global:lol:

They should be congratulated on how low they've sunk in less then one off season=d> =d>

Things is with Fabregas - Arsenal DID snap him up from Barcelona's set up to begin with and while sure they certainly gave him the first team opportunity to become the star he is now, from my more neutral p.o.v. it doesn't seem so bad to me, that he'd up up back in his hometown/region club, ESPECIALLY as Arsenal will be rewarded with a hefty/nice compensation for it ($40M+ Euros?).

And lol, Fabregas has been at Arsenal a while now, some may say at 23 going 24 next year, he's even getting a little old, given Arsene's persistent eye for young talent and his promotion of them to the first team. He probably already has his eye on another 17 year old Fabregas from the youth system of a French league club somewhere, IF Arsenal don't already have one within their set up.

And that reminds me, you have young Wilshere coming through, as too Aaron Ramsey and still have Nasri, Rosicky and Arshavin still about - so it's not too bad for you guys, but obviously the big question is whether the latter three can all remain fit enough for the majority of the season.

Hmm if you lose Fabregas, then Arsene may end up signing Yohann Gourcuff, not too bad I guess.

The thing is none of those players can fill the position that Cesc plays. Nasri can but he is nowhere near effective in it. There is no doubt that Fabregas is the most pivotal player in this team and selling him would be detrimental to the team.

Arsene has already ruled out going for Gourcuff because he is happy with the ammunition we have in midfield already which says that he isn't planning to sell Cesc at any cost.

And why should we sell him:lol: just because we got him from barca when he was 16 they think they have some right to have him back. I like seeing the club take a stand for once and not just give Barcelona what they want like we have in recent years. Marc Overmars, Emmanuel Petit, Gio Van Bronckhorst, Sylvinho, Thierry Henry, Aliksandr Hleb. I don't think the club is ready to add Cesc Fabregas to that list.

What's funny is the club would have been willing to seel before Barca went on like a spoilt brat this summer and that has really put Arsenal off letting him go.

uhh... get over it ppl.
It was a bunch of guys (and friends from way back) clowning around. Sure they would like him back at Barca and he wants to return. He's one of theirs originally so its no real surprise. Pique left and came back. Anyone who has been brought up in their academy will always want to return as its one of the best clubs in the world.
He, like all professional footballers will make up his mind accordingly.

Pros: Back home, bigger chance at silverware, playing with all his international teammates, more money (i would assume, tax and all that)
Cons: May not have be a regular starter for a year or two until Xaxi gets too old to hold his peak, leaving a club he loves

It will be interesting to see what he does.

He's only 23  That is crazy.

Well, when Barca don't get him this summer they only have themselves to blame. The despeicable way they have gone about this whole transfer saga is the reason Arsenal aren't willing to seel and this is just more on top of it.

The Arsenal fans care, and you can sure as hell guarantee the Arsenal Football Club cares. What they did is neither funny nor smart. It's just disrespectful to both the club and to Cesc and embarrassing. To do something like that at a celebration that is meant to be for Spain and then turn it into something about Barca is just low.

All Barca keep doing is shooting themselves in the foot. They want Fabregas so badly, and they are sure as hell not getting him now. Wouldn't surprise me if the club refuses to do any business with Barca in the future because of the this.

You missed from leaving a club he loves, is the captain of, where he has the total belief of the coach, is adored by it's fans, with team mates who actually respect him rather than put him down.

This was not just a 'prank' it was an undermining of all he has done over the past 7 years, it was a public statement that his achievements mean nothing as they were not done at Barcelona. That is what I find so disgraceful.

Alright, take it easy

I think you're taking it a bit out of context. Sure, I can agree it was bad taste, but it wasn't like they are undermining everything he is done at Arsenal.

I can understand how it upsets you, if someone put a Barca jersey on Torres or something I wouldn't be too happy but you're taking it out of proportion imo.

They are just giving him some stick as they want him to play with them.

And Reina doesn't wanna face him :P

Barcelona have become so obsessed with their own self worth that it's like nothing else matters unless it's done by them. It's actually really embarrassing. yeah sure they play beautiful football but the way they have conducted themselves this summer is an embarrassment to a great club.

The fact that Fabregas has left his future in Wenger's hands means he trusts Wenger more than anyone to do what is best for him and if that is staying at Arsenal(Which it is) then he will do that. He's not going to sook his way through next season like Adebayor did after he wasn't allowed to leave. Fabregas is a professional and will give his all for the club that he loves and the club that has made him the player he is today.

Just on that, It'll be interesting to see what reception the Arsenal fans give Reina at Anfield come August 16th:lol:

Just one thing that for me really shows how much disrespect they have shown Arsenal this summer. At the start of the summer they said that they would respect whatever Arsenal's position on Fabregas is. ow that position is that we are not willing to sell at any price, yet they still come out in the press everyday. So basically what they mean is they will respect whatever position suits them best.

I know it's meant to be a joke, but all they have done is disrepect the club Arsenal and Cesc himself. To turn a celebration for Spain winning the World Cup into something about Barcelona is just low. Not to mention embarrassing for Cesc. He's celebrating winning the World Cup do they think he enjoys having that done to him. He would feel bad enough as it is throughout all this and for them to do that shows they just really don't care about anyone else but themselves.

If they thought that Arsenal were being hard to deal with before just imagine how hard we would be to deal with now.

sydneycroatia58 - seriously - we get it - you're really upset. You think Arsenal are great and Barca are doing the wron thing. How about you take a Bex and go for a good lie down.
I'm sure Cesc is grown-up enough to do what he wants. And he's already said where he wants to end up in the future so lets wait and see...

OK, will take it easy now - just pissed me off. It isn't like I support Arsenal though, so I am upset about it in a different way to sydcro.

The thing about football - the important thing about football - is its not just about football.
