I noticed when I updated my Avatar and Signature, that it will not play any animated ones anymore?? Any reason??

That happened when i tried to re-upload mine on another machine, but when i came back to this one, it uploaded fine.

More importantly, why isnt Erebus enforcing the size restriction of signatures anymore? :P

For AVs it does, not so sure about sigs. People have simply been linking more than 1 file to make their sig bigger than the size limits.

If it automatically restricted the size of sigs, then why would Erebus have to constantly whinge about people's sigs being too big :roll:

It automatically resizes the size of an image in the sig for any individual image, but as Erebus pointed out, people point to multiple images, and there's no way to resize them all in unison to fit inside those dimensions.

I could always change the amount of characters allowed in sigs. That would ruin a fair few peoples signatures.

Keep it as it is.

i had eight userbars but erebus told me i could only have four.:(

the avatar thing is weird sometimes it says a certain avatar is to big then the next time you try it, it works.

That would solve alot of problems actually..

Yeah I think you can have 5. Just has to fit in the 400 x 150 size limits.
(you do realise that userbars are like soooo 5 years ago right?)

Not quite sure what you're getting at. The space at the bottom is allocated as your signature. Only you cannot have an image > 400 x 150 pixels.

yeah its 400px wide as I read before - but it is an animated gif and its not going thru the frames?

whats the code required to paste in a sig?

Hmm... never really noticed. I did know, however, that gifs with a transparent background don't work in the signature.

nope this hasn't a transparent background - solid colour - hmmm this is odd?

must be something to with the coding in the sig area that doesn't comply...right click on image and there is a massive extension in front of the actual url address of the image...even when right clicking to 'view the image' shows a encrypted code...

It's probably intentionally set up like this so that people don't have animated avatars. There was a massive whinge-fest six months ago over a stupid [minor] animated advertisement at the top of the page.

Who gives a hoot anyway, we don't judge by the quality of signatures. No, we judge by the quality of submitted rumours!

Oh ok just that I went to some effort to make it move thats all :D but anyways I've come over from the *** Sport forum - I'm hoping that this forum has more diligence and integrity about forum guidelines and mutual respect.

Anyway, I think The Web Guy may have an answer for you re:signature issue. He's pretty scarce these days. FFT experiments and all. But as I said, it's probably to do with avoiding having everyone with an animated signature - that'd be hell.

I dont think you can have moving sigs. If you use it as an avatar itd probably work as long as its under 50kbs.

The signatures have been set up to automatically resize to fit within the given dimensions. When it does this, it loses all transparency and animation properties.

It was set up that way so we don't have forums that is more signatures than posts, and yes, having animated signatures would just ruin it even more.

Ummmmmm thanks yet I wasn't intending to ruin anything! And my sig was set at 400 x 20px...I was just curious to why it wasn't flicking through its frames as any animated gif would. However the animated gif was stored on my Flickr account and I have since read their details in regards to the DON'T DO! and removed it.

well i saw the flickr thing as his sig didnt you? I right clicked it went to properties and copied out the adress. Then i put it in my browser and it came up with the flickr thing again. Upload it to tinypic or photobucket then retry n00blet.

Yeah I saw a flickr thing. It was basically letting everyone know that he was hotlinking from flickr.

It's a minor issue, but I tried lastnight and oversized images aren't resized automatically. Also, I tried a 100x100 gif animation which didn't go through its frames, and another 100x100 gif which also lost its transparency. Meh.

If there was so much rage about a petty animated advertisment 6 months ago, one can only imagine the uproar over animated sigs. :lol:

That's my intention - to set a number of designs for proposal to FFA along with particular campaign concepts to educate and perhaps inspire and create attention to Australia's plight to bid for the 2018 WC...perhaps consider making the campaign a poster competition and entries are voted upon and slug it out - as like the actual WC...it could be collaborating teams to achieve successful popularity votes to keep them in the running? Not sure just ideas at the moment.

Been getting a lot of attention which is great with the avatar and the animated gif - however a majority of the comments have been defeatist and negative...and disappoints and saddens me to know that the good ole Aussie spirit is a myth maybe? No faith that the possibility is there are nothing is achieved by chance - just hard work and a lot of self confidence - FAITH! and there seems to be a huge lack of that - maybe due to the persistent urban racial divisions and non supportive communities for the sport...I see too much persecution of racial cast - both untoward both sides of the coin...

As for the double up of messages before - I did type a message before and it did post - yet it hasn't shown which again proves that my browser FF has been playing up badly! since coming to this and another two forums...I do know how to edit - thank you...
