Is there any chance youse blokes could stop referring to the members of the women's national association football team as "girls"?

I know you give them good coverage and aren't meaning to denigrate them in anyway but "girls" is a bit errr... 1970s.

Absolutely not. There are the boys (mens side), the girls (women's) and the kids (age group).

I refuse to change the way I refer to all of these, as changing one would equate to sexism and ineqality :)

I refer to men's sides as the 'boys' or 'lads' - why would I say 'ladies' or 'women' when I can say 'girls'?

It's not denigrating or demeaning - it's a term of endearment and familiarity.

It would be like calling the boys or lads 'gentlemen' or 'chaps'

I don't understand what's wrong with it. And why should it matter to you what other people call them??
