Can we get an ignore function whereby once you ignore a user you no longer see their posts?

Can we get it to ignore entire forums? I'd never have to read AF again

This is becoming more and more imperative. I've been gone for close to a month, one of my first posts back complementing Dejan on his VPL wraps was met with an immediate personal attack from Skinet (again). http://au.fourfourtwo.com/forums/default.aspx?g=posts&t=51537I'm not going to whine and call for his banning, but being able to opt out of reading his dribble would be lovely.

It's really coming down to this. Repeat offenders just don't seem to get banned, ie. skinet, Rigas, Frederick.

I have suspended both Skinet and Frederick (x2) in the last month, and I think that Rigas copped a ban too. When they break the rules, they get an appropriate suspension. Thanks for the heads up on Skinet this time around, I've given him a final warning. Edited by imnofreak: 21/3/2011 01:55:13 PM

Skinet seems to get these warnings pretty regularly. Quite a few forums have friend/foe options which let you know when a friend has posted in a thread and hides the comments of foes.

Why not ban repeat offenders for good though? Seems silly to let them back when clearly they think they can keep doing the same things ad nauseum.

Web Guy, you need to give a mod or mods access to IP banning, if only just Erebus and KA.
In the mean time, the mods should be serving out lengthy suspensions if not banning them till the millennium after next. Keep banning multi accounts - they get bored of creating new emails after a week or two or ten. You mods do still talk to each other, right? lol

 Yes. If I see what I know (or am almost 100% sure) is a multi I ban it for life (did it with a skinet multi not long ago). But if you aren't the mod who banned the initial account, a multi can sometimes slip by you.

Maybe should just stick to a "don't be a dickhead" rule, and we'd all get on?

dale1878 wrote:Maybe should just stick to a "don't be a dickhead" rule, and we'd all get on? Not really that simple, I guess. Everyone has varying definition of what a dickhead is and how people should behave. The ability to decide who you think is enough of a dickhead for yourself and opt to not have their posts visible any more would be fantastic. Edited by notorganic: 21/3/2011 03:52:50 PM

ausmojo wrote:Maybe add a report button as well ? This would be handy and probably the best course of action IMO. Being able to rep posters and friend/foe/hide posts is generally a feature from another forum engine and could be too much work for the web guy to introduce, even if it is a great idea. The only problem is that with many people hiding Skinet, Alex or Frederick's posts, you could well see an increase in spam from them which could create a less apealing environment for public viewers, 'outsiders' and new members.

marty its all fallen apart since you left :P jk  *flexes ban hammer* I really wonder what the internet will be like in 4275  Quote:Being able to rep posters and friend/foe/hide posts is generally a feature from another forum engine and could be too much work for the web guy to introduce, even if it is a great idea. That basically sums it up. I've heard stories on the backend of this forum and the sticky tape is holding up quite well considering! I think there are report features etc on an updated version of the forums, but I don't think it can be upgraded easily because of the customisation these forums have gone through. The report feature has been discussed in the past and may have to be looked into again. TWG is awol atm though, and I know for a fact that the forums are a low priority in terms of updating etc (Haymarket have a number of sites they run and there aren't dedicated people for each site, a handful of them work on all sites)
