These are the predicted immediate effects:

- PM Cameron likely to resign
- Potential for an election to be called
- Scotland voted strongly to remain. Therefore this is likely to trigger a second independence referendum. As Scotland is currently part of the UK, if the UK votes to leave the EU, Scotland will be forced out as part of the UK. If Scotland wants to stay in the EU, they will need to leave the UK.
- The "divorce" process for the EU & UK is expected to take around 2 years.
- They will need to re-negotiate all trade deals. The EU has an incentive to make conditions for the UK as difficult as possible to prevent other countries from copying the UK.
- Whilst London will stay as a major financial centre, they will no longer be the EU financial centre - this will now likely be Frankfurt.
- Travelling from UK to EU countries will become like travelling from Australia to the EU (eg passport controls etc).

Surely it means players will have to have passports/VISAs sorted out differently now thanks to the removed freedom of travel?

Yes, but this is already the case for many member countries of UEFA who are not in the EU - Switzerland, the Scandinavian countries, Russia, Turkey etc.

There will be administrative differences, but no real effect. The EPL as it stands has no restrictions on foreigners anyway.

Every electorate in Scotland voting to stay, with a much higher overall majority for staying than the rest have for leaving.

The next independence referendum will be interesting.
