It was a red card imo. Defender knew exactly what he was doing, made no attempt to play the ball but thought he might knock the attacker off balance instead. Blaming the ref/VAR takes the focus off a defender who should have done better ....

It wasn't overruled. It was incorrectly given as handball by the ref and the decision was upheld by VAR.

Contact doesn't mean a foul. There was minimal contact and it should've been a yellow to Buhagiar for simulation.

I thought it was a foul first time around and just watched the half time analysis hasn’t changed my mind. The contact from the defender is with his elbow ffs, it’s not even normal contact it’s an attempt to put the running attacker off balance. It’s just really poor defending there.
